Just imagine a world in which every online statement and ad was required under penalty of law to include the REAL name of the individual or group behind it.

Imagine if you KNEW that a given statement was backed by a previously unidentified right wing political group, or that the poster was local head of the KKK or the Sierra Club.

Would it help in dealing with this mounting tide of garbage information?

What is a real name?

How about providing the legal names of the organizations’ leadership (Chief Executive Officer and Treasurer or their functional equivalents)? Basically, if you’re going to put something out there in the public square, the law should make some real person(s) responsible for it.

And yes, that applies to Democrats, Rape-ublicans, Greens, Libertines, and everyone else. Politicians are not just another commodity to sell, and the standards for advertising them should be more stringent than those for selling boner pills.

Yes well…we have groups like ‘Judicial Watch’ and the only thing they are ‘watching’ is to make sure no ‘librul’ judges or legislation ever passes…then there if Future45 who used to be ‘kinda’ benign and are now rabid Cons who have done nothing this election season but run ads against Dems that are chock full o’ lies. ‘Be afraid. Be very afraid…if a Democrat gets in!’
