The deep state breaks its cover!
This is just more Deep State anti-Trumpism. Trump knows more about the border emergency than any of these people. He, alone, can protect us from the waves of scores and scores of desperate women and children, who are on the verge of completely overwhelming our troops!
Fifty-eight. Hagel is the only R in the named. Are there others?
This is a win-win for Trump. If he loses in court, he’s still solid with his base. If he gets his wall built, he also wins.
Now, if he can only keep his son in law from buying any more 1.8 billion dollar fixer uppers, they can concentrate on goosing the market with a China trade deal and guarantee his reelection with help from Wall Street.
Hope the House can throw a wrench into things with their investigations.
More names given here.
“Also signing were Eliot A. Cohen, State Department counselor under President George W. Bush; Thomas R. Pickering, President George H.W. Bush’s ambassador to the United Nations; John F. Kerry, Obama’s second secretary of state; Susan E. Rice, Obama’s national security adviser; Leon E. Panetta, Obama’s CIA director and defense secretary; as well as former intelligence and security officials who served under Republican and Democratic administrations.”
Have you ever thought what would Trump do leading up to re-election if he didn’t have this wall demand? What item on his bizarre to do list would he have to promote during the election? Now I don’t agree with the wall, but I just now wonder if there was another way-to give him the money with a whole lot of strings attached. What would he do next?
What job in government has Leon Panetta not had?
There have been a few.
It’s not the wall. It’s what the wall represents and stands for. He would never sign a deal giving into any immigration demands for his wall. Many people who actually benefit from illegal immigration via lower costs are behind him because of the fear mongering. Sure, racism is part of it, but that’s not the whole picture. David Faris put his finger on it a quite a while ago:
This was a movement that summoned out the inchoate rage of white Americans who had been left behind by free trade, the technologization of the economy, and the failure of Bushism to deliver at home or abroad, and found as its scapegoat a moderate neoliberal Democrat whose sole lasting achievement was the passage of the Heritage Foundation’s health-care plan. The Affordable Care Act brought many of these people health coverage via the expansion of Medicaid. They do not know this. They only know that a man on television hated them for eight years. Now there is a different man on television who, if he does not love them, at least affords them a bizarre sort of respect. He speaks their own language of omnidirectional hostility and resentment.
I get this but, what other thing could he pull from his fear mongering bag of tricks? His big beautiful Tax Cut, Cut, Cut Plan bit the base in their wallets, his Trumpcare has not shown up, his foreign policy has isolated us, so what’s the next rabbit he’ll try and pull out of a hat?
They’ll vote for him if he can keep tapping into their anger. If they are not angry about anything, he’ll find something with the help of polling and Frank Luntz.
I have every confidence he’ll redirect their anger about tax cuts and somehow blame the Democrats.
maybe you should wear one of those rubber bracelets that say:
What Would Jesus-Christ-What -an-Idiot Do?
Trump in a nutshell. And his followers.
Thanks
Is there a group of former international security officials who SUPPORT the emergency declaration? Is there even one? Asking for a a friend.
