Discussion for article #228668
I still wonder if McCain voted for himself, if he even got that far in figuring out the ballot.
Uh oh…does that mean Beetljuice is gonna show up?
Jesus Christ. What’s so hard about saying “of course I voted for him, I’m a Democrat !” ? ? ?
In a saner world, they’d be pressing McConnell to find out why he voted for Dubya (twice), who bankrupted the country and got us into an intractable war in the Middle East.
Doesn’t this make someone look worse? I don’t want my Congresspeople weaselly. Everyone knows she’s a Democrat, so why would they be surprised she voted for Obama (I’m sure most Kentuckians assume she did)? Just say you voted for him, and if need be to keep up your centrist cred, turn your answer into a series of things that he has done that failed to live up to your expectations. Having not listened to the interview myself, I’d say if I were an undecided Kentuckian (I’m neither, as a California Democrat), this would make me more inclined to look elsewhere to throw my support.
I’m totally okay with this. She’s got to do what she’s got to do to get elected, and you are not going to get elected in this state if you admit you voted for President Blacky McBlackerson. These country white folk need to be able to believe that she’s the same kind of Democrat as they are. They need to have room to believe she wouldn’t possibly support the president. At this point, I don’t give a damn if she calls the president everything but a child of God. I want her to win, and if she’s got to win-ugly, an ugly win is still a W.
Having not listened to the interview myself, I’d say if I were an undecided Kentuckian (I’m neither, as a California Democrat), this would make me more inclined to look elsewhere to throw my support.
Not if you’d spent thirty years with Mitch McConnell as your senator, 12 years with Jim Bunning as your other senator who was then replaced by Rand Paul.
To be honest, if I ran for office, I’d refuse to tell who I voted for.
She should have gone on the offensive and talked about why McCain and Romney were untenable alternatives to voting for Obama.
oh good grief… if you’re too friggin askeered to answer that question, then give it up. she will never be a reliable partner for tough, controversial issues. i really wonder if her votes would be all that different from mcconnell…
Absolutely. That would be a great way to thread the needle. But just refusing to answer makes her look evasive and untrustworthy, in my view.
She’s in Kentucky and wants to win?
She’ll vote with the Democrats probably 90-95% of the time. McConnell will vote with Democrats 1-5% of the time. The only issue with which there is any daylight between Grimes and the national party platform is on coal.
At least preach the value of the secret ballot.
This is a silly stance, for sure.
I really don’t think folks understand how deep the racism runs in KY. The people out in the counties hate Obama with such reckless abandon that it really is better for her to sound evasive than admit to voting for him.
I am so happy I don’t live in KY…
I will be holding my nose to vote for the Dems for Gov and Senate here in Georgia…
My only saving grace is that I live in one of the 5 districts in Ga that is solid Dem.
I don’t understand why she refuses to answer that question. As a Democrat not only she should say she voted for the President, she should actually run her campaign highlighting Obama’s successes to date.
I suppose she’s lucky that with less than a month to go, Democrats have no choice but to hold their noses and support her. Then we get on with finding better Democrats.
You could also suggest that she fly the flag for gay marriage and legal marijuana. Or you could read Plucky’s comments and adjust your opinions accordingly. But you probably won’t. I wonder [troll] why?
As always my dear Pluckey - you nailed it.
