I don’t know this Grijalva fellow, but I’m getting the impression that Zinke is pretty much an asshole.
I have met this Grijalva fellow and I think he’s a good guy and works hard for his constituents. Haven’t met him, but Zinke, not so much.
Grijalva is a Congressman in Southern AZ and is effective and much loved. Zinke is way way out of his political league in going personal on Grijalva. I believe he will chair the Interior Committee come Jan.

Zinke doesn’t seem to get it that the do-what-I-want and say-what-I-want times are over, come January they are not going to have any friends running interference for him in House, insulting the guys that now how the power to rake them thru the coals is not the best strategy.

People like Tweet and Zinke always resort to ad hominem attacks because they have no defense for their actions. Drunk or not, Grijalva has more class in his burps than Zinke does in his whole body.
Secretary Zinke and Trump both violated the letter of the law (Federal Land Policy and Management Act of 1976) when they attacked our national monuments here in Utah. It’s not a criminal violation, but it ought to be impeachable. The courts will overturn Trump’s executive orders on Bears Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. There ought to be consequences beyond that.
Would it be too ethnic stereotyping for me to hope that Grijalva uses some combination of “pinché” and “pendejo” in his private comments?
My theory has always been that they became enamored by a cross between the Alex P. Keaton and Christian Bale swagger and wanted to be like them.
He’s been the chair or co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus for years and years. In terms of actual impact, you won’t find anyone in Congress further to his left who’s more powerful.
Amongst the Villagers some years back, he was known as a hard drinker and it ended up in a hostile environment settlement with a staffer and then he got the alcohol problem under control.
Zinke sounds nice…gag.
Grijalva did not deny the details of the severance package that the Washington Times reported. In 2015, an employee threatened to sue over Grijalva’s frequent drunkenness and a hostile work environment, the Times report said.
After she made that threat, the report says, Grijalva’s office stopped paying her in an effort to force a settlement, which eventually was reached. She received her salary for five more months – a total of $48,395.
The complaint wasn’t about sexual harassment, Grijalva noted in two written statements.
In the later statement he explained: “The fact is that an employee and I, working with the House Employment Counsel, mutually agreed on terms for a severance package, including an agreement that neither of us would talk about it publicly. The terms were consistent with House Ethics Committee guidance. The severance funds came out of my committee operating budget. Every step of the process was handled ethically and appropriately."
A native Arizonan, I’ll vouch for Grijalva. Don’t know Zinke, but appearances would suggest he distributes public land for private profit, public be damned and all that.

I can’t see why world-class assholes will go to work for him. either. They ought to recognize their own kind and figure they’re going to get their backs stabbed, throats cut, asses handed to them - he doesn’t give one shit about any of them or anyone else - just him.
Grijalva was my rep for many years. I watched him closely. I am sure he drinks some. I don’t know if he has a problem. I have never been anything but satisfied with his representation in congress. He fights for good causes and gets quite a bit done. One employee getting a 5 month severance is not a pattern or a problem. Zinke on the other hand has a clear pattern involving many incidents.
