Discussion: Greg Abbott Brushes Off Wendy Davis Ad: Sure, 'Attack A Guy In A Wheelchair'

Discussion for article #228777

Cringeworthy ad you say?
Assbot doesn’t like it when ‘Abortion Barbie’ strikes back. The MSM sure as hell didn’t call for his gang to disavow that nasty slur.
No sympathy here buddy. After all, if a prosthetic leg doesn’t constitute a disability in Texas,What the hell does?

“My reaction is that if she wants to attack a guy in a wheelchair, that’s her prerogative,” Abbott said on Fox News’ “Hannity.”

She attacked you for being a hypocrite in a wheelchair and all you’re offended by is the “in a wheelchair” part?

But of course! Remember, he’s the victim, after all…

Her media team should never have used the wheelchair…just don’t go there, it’s a no win situation. Gives Abbott an easy way to play for sympathy.

And what is Ah-butt’s response to the people mocking a disabled person for daring to support Wendy Davis?

First off, being in a wheelchair doesn’t make one immune to criticism! From what I can tell, Davis’ ad is true!

Secondly, Wendy Davis is a STATE senator in Texas. She’s had absolutely NOTHING to do with Barack Obama in her job duties as a STATE senator in Texas! She’s not voted on any Obama policy, not debated any Obama policy, not co-sponsored any Obama legislation. So, STFU, Abbot!

Yup. Abbott is worried.

This is a good thing. Now if Davis can just GOTV.

Abbott has been practically invincible in his previous races, and as the “anointed” one, he expected to “roll” to victory this time around. Beyond the wheelchair, however, are some odd unconstitutional impulses such as Texas gerrymandering and voting rules. Davis needs to get beyond the wheelchair to highlight Abbott’s track record. On the other hand, why the fuss at all? What exactly does the Governor of Texas do besides play solitaire on the computer?

The schedules do not, of course, tell the full story. Long chunks of time were left blank, and just because nothing was scheduled does not mean that Mr. Bush was playing solitaire on his computer (although he sometimes did). Aides say that during periods when his schedule was blank, Mr. Bush made phone calls, read and answered correspondence, talked to staff members, met visitors and dropped in on legislators.

A slimier eel there never was.

He’s hip-deep in the CPRIT Cancer Foundation slush-fund scandal that Rick Perry will eventually be called to account for.
Abbott was anointed as Governor-in-waiting solely to keep the wraps on it going forward.
He was a sitting Board Member.
Companies blessed with huge CPRIT grants have been among Abbott’s largest political donors.

Here’s a good synopsis:

Wheelchair? He’s a f^cking crook in a wheelchair.
Sure. The wheelchair is for real. But Abbott uses it like a prop.
Still leaning sympathetic?

The truth hurts, eh Greg?

100% agree… very dumb. Politicians on both sides of the aisle just don’t appear to understand the power of images, whether they’re still or video. The Davis campaign didn’t even need to mention the fact that Davis is disabled—his actions against other disabled people were all that the Davis campaign needed to focus on.

Based on you getting yours and proactively working to deny others in wheelchairs the help they need, I’d dump your punk ass onto the sidewalk if I had a chance, you filthy rotten sonofabitch. Evidently using a wheelchair hasn’t done a goddamned thing to give you any compassion.

Among the simple-minded, perhaps, who are already in his column.

100% disagree.
In every previous election Abbott never appeared in a wheelchair when shown in a campaign ad.
He was always waist-up-- or simply a head-shot.
But then, he was never really challenged previously.

This campaign? He’s done several ads with him rolling around.
Abbott is the one who has made the wheelchair central to the campaign narrative.

Davis’ media team is pointing out two glaring hypocrisies in one-fell-swoop.
This duality-- I’ll hazard a guess–is not lost on most Texans.

Davis is behind.
Now is when you take your shots-- good or bad-- or live with the regret that you hadn’t.

Bravo!!!

She has a good point. Why does Abott get millions when he lost his leg but a child has his amputated and his is only worth 250,000? That is a very good point. She’s not mocking abott in the wheel chair she is supporting the child who lost his leg to negligence.

Uh, ya. They invented that shit, didn’t they?

Abbott responds by bringing Obama into the argument AND pointing out he’s disabled- he must feel the ad worked. Like it or not Gregg, Wendy raises a good point.
