Graydon Carter is a liar. So happy to see him go. - John Barron

Carter said the framed tweets are on display “on a wall — this is the only wall Trump’s built — outside my office.”

“There’s a space left for one more tweet to complete the bottom line. So if he does, I’m just going to call our framer, and say we need one more,” Carter said. “It should be a little bright spot in his administration.”

It’s not just that he’s been absolutely brutal to Trump over decades that makes Graydon Carter a wonderful thorn in his life. It’s also that being a witty, sophisticated top editor at glossy magazines is about the best provider of social entrée that a person without fabulous wealth can have. You’re invited to every party and welcome in every restaurant. And that’s the one thing Trump could never buy. He’s a stingy, vulgar narcissist lunkhead and nobody wanted him around in the circles he wanted to move in. But his tormentor Graydon Carter, no problem. Heh.

In a perfect world he would resurrect SPY magazine.

For years I only knew Trump because SPY mag covered him ruthlessly. Subscribing was a very rare indulgence in my college days. The little mini-SPY in VF last year just made me miss it more.

I don’t know if there could be a version of SPY that could keep up.

Rumor also has it that VF is replacing him with this spectacular hairdo:

I think the Times should have asked Carter if he would dance (or piss, or shit) on Trump’s grave, since Carter seems far more likely to outlive Trump than the other way around.

Spy Magazine was one of my great guilty pleasures back in its heyday.
And Carter was an equal-opportunity insulter. He called Paul Simon a “rug-wearing musical colonialist.” You can look it up!

Nineteen long years gone, and I still miss Spy. Like yskov above, I too maintained a regular subscription even when I could ill afford it.

“According to Carter, another guest came up to him, distraught, and accused Trump of being ‘the most vulgar man’ she had ever met and of spending their entire conversation remarking on the ‘tits’ and legs of other women.”

Like my sister-in-law, Trump is a constant reminder that money can buy anything

Except class.
