Grassley is such a great name for this guy. Should enter the language as an adverb for dishonest feebleness.
“I’m quite troubled,” Susan Collins said grassley.

Oh, I think the phones still work down there. If McConnell calls to say you need to cool this down or I can’t guarantee it won’t be trouble, Trump will take the call. Without the Senate it’s a long way down.
Not necessarily true. Impeachment has a lot of advantages to the Democrats and the country, even if the Senate ultimately votes not to convict.
For one thing, it would unite the Democrats and divide the Republicans, and it would also mean months of very bad press for Trump and Republicans. It would also tie-up the Senate during the trial preventing any more judge confirmations during that time.
But Mitch McConnell rules the world.
Collinsitis. It’s going around.
Double concern! Shit, at this point, someone’s going to tell donnie to go to his room without supper if they keep it up.
They could confirm another 20 Federalist Society flacks during a coffee break.
Very troubling. Must look into it. Harumph.
Amongst a backdrop of unfathomable corruption and misdeeds, he just directed border patrols to break the law. Not sure what bright-red line there is left to cross in this, our nation of laws.
Yet I wonder what exactly he intends to do about it.
Go see Newt Gingrich, ask him how well impeachment worked out for his caucus.
At this point, I’m just generally presuming you’re a Republican plant intent on trying to gin up support for impeachment in order to sabotage the gains that we made last November. It’s really the only thing that makes sense with your one-note refrain.
No idea. I don’t want to make exaggerated claims for this, it’s just that the fact pattern looks a skosh different from other times when we had concerned cluckings and “I don’t agree with that” remarks and so forth.
Too bad we don’t have a Supreme Court we can depend on to put the brakes on him, eh Chuck?
So Democrats should simply give up on impeachment because the Republicans overreached with Clinton?
Are the Republicans your role model now? I guess you’re a Trump supporter because you don’t want him impeached.
Perhaps Richard Nixon is a better example than Bill Clinton. Some Democrats had some courage back then. The late Carl Albert would have been a better person to ask then the disgraced Gingrich. I did not know you were a Gingrich fan.
PS. Bill Clinton was much more popular than Trump, and his “crimes” far less serious.
He really does look the part!
Republican motto: Be sincere whether you mean it or not.
In fact, he’s so concerned that he’ll keep supporting all of the president’s proposals and do exactly nothing about what’s going on at DHS.
I can’t make myself be that optimistic. This just looks like more empty gesture pearl clutching to me.
Which is why they make chocolate and vanilla.

they are the intellectual basis for what the president wants to accomplish in immigration
I’m sorry, but this has simply blown all the circuits on my irony motherboard. One would think it should be possible to speak of the Heimatsicherheitsdienst without invoking comparisons with the NSDAP, but seriously, where else are you going to get comparanda for kiddie koncentration kamps. It’s almost impossible to avoid thinking of Himmler, Heydrich, and Eichmann as the intellectual basis for what the Chancellor wanted to accomplish with regard to the Jews.
Oh, fuck off. I’m done responding to you. A simple check of my history makes it very clear where I am on things.
Of course we want him impeached. But going through the motions without the documented crimes and without overwhelming public support to the point that even the Senate starts to crack and wobble is a recipe for disaster.
But you’re much smarter than Pelosi, Schumer and the rest of them combined. Got it.
Can you really be sure of this? Have we reached the point where Emperor Trump doesn’t need a Turtle to tell him what to do or not do? I believe that there will be a reckoning between these two, and it will be a fight over power. Trump will want the dictator’s due vs. McConnell wanting to retain the power and control of Congress (under his control). When this day comes I hope it will be televised.
