Trump: Ivanka is the most best suited as FBI director. She wont take any salary. All free. She also knows Russian very well. The Best I said.
Yeah right. Forgive me, Mr Grassley, if I take your words with a few thousand grains of salt.
“Somebody that comes from the judicial branch of government, I think has some credibility just because that’s been their working environment,” Grassley said
Some do, some don’t. How about Merrick Garland? You’ve plenty of time to go over his qualifications.
The republican tea team is going to have to take one for their constituents on this.
Yeah, right. It will never happen.
Not a good idea at all:
The reasons this is insane should be obvious: 1) Republicans would get to replace Garland on a critical appellate circuit court, and 2) popular-vote loser Donald Trump could turn around and fire Garland a week later and nominate the Russian ambassador instead. And the Senate GOP would vote to confirm, because they are all co-conspirators in Trump’s treason.
Right, so the topic is already moving on to the question of Comey’s replacement. Comey’s dismissal apparently water under the bridge. Democrats have to make this sort of exchange impossible. The subject has to be kept on Comey’s dismissal and obstruction of justice, not to mention Trump’s improper pressure on Comey after the dismissal.
With any luck, the new director will take to heart Comey’s farewell letter:
So now Senator Grasshole thinks there might be a “Rye-sha” issue?
CYA time is nigh, folks…
Not a serious suggestion at all.
Preet Baraha (sp?), Thomas Fitzgerald come to mind.
And she will also promote a brand new line of fabulous FBI fashions (FFF by Ivavka), available through WhiteHouse.com.
Whatta gal!
I hear Robert Bentley’s available.
So Trump will propose Flynn and the compromise will be his personal lawyer, Michael Cohen.
Point being Republicans will talk a good game, then immediately cave for whatever Trump wants.
Actually, the acting FBI Director, McCabe, seems like a straight shooter, given he’s already slapped Donnie down once.
In other words, they want to appoint some nutjob who will scuttle the investigation, but they want to create the superficial appearance that Trump had nothing to do with the appointment as a way of protecting Trump from the Comey fallout, breaking the chain of events connected to Trump’s firing of Comey so it can’t be said that Trump fired him so Trump could replace him with a “friend.”
Gimme a break Grassley. You have been SUCH a suck this election and NOW you want ‘independence’???
An interesting analysis of Comey’s farewell letter.
I never could understand how Grassley was ever elevated to chairman of the all powerful Senate Judiciary Committee in the first place. He has no legal background, no law degree, nothing, nada, zip. He doesn’t even seem to understand basic civics at times. Go figure.
