Putting Grassley’s statement through the GOP-speech-O-meter yields:
But we can’t have Mark Judge testify, or do any investigation, because that would sink our nominee
Proceed, gentlemen.
Chuck tryina hold the dam against the wimmenz 'n the librul elites.
Please proceed, Grandpa.
“Gee whiz! How am I supposed to get my favorite rapist confirmed if we have all of this evidence floating around?” said Chuck Grassley…
Times have changed. A he-said, she-said setup of a hearing does not cut it.
Also as outlined in her attorney’s letter, Blasey Ford has been hacked, received death threats, and had to leave her home for safety.
The GOP rejected a reasonable request. I hope that is conveyed over the course of the next several days.
I hope the Maryland State Police begins an investigation. The American public deserves to have the facts on whether or not Brett Kavanaugh is a rapist or not. It is relevant to his judgement, character and temperament.
See you assholes in November Chuckles.
So , Chuck hates women as well .
Sham hearing …
A show trial of an accuser is exactly what anti-MeToo people want and by golly the Republican party will give it to them.
GOP strategists are surely looking forward to a day or two of the Foggy Bottom Senior Citizen’s Home production of Saint Joan.
Which was expected (at least by me). Which means if she doesn’t testify on Monday she’s going to be labeled by GOP and their stans as a liar/democratic plant/playing politics with a Man’s Life!!!
Well more so than she already is, I saw plenty of that last night when the news first broke.
I have no idea if this crap will help the Ds flip the Senate in November.
Grassley: “Nothing she says will affect our pre-determined conclusion and determination to railroad Kavanaugh through to the Supreme Court regardless of the actual facts of the matter.”
Predators seldom have a single victim. Brett has bragged about heavy drinking in law school. An investigation might well turn up other victims. I don’t blame them for not speaking up. The aftermath will be awful. But I hope they do.
The disconnect here is as stunning as anything we’ve seen since the Troll in Chief first oozed into the Oval Office. (And I know that’s a very high bar.)
If the GOP members of the Judiciary Committee truly believe Judge Kavanaugh is innocent, then the best thing for them to do is embrace the full-transparency-take-our-time-do-this-right option. If he emerges more or less unscathed from an honest, open review, they’d still have plenty of time to ram him through the full Senate (and they’d be able to put more pressure on red-state Dems to support him).
By making it look like he and they really do have something to hide, they assure that he’s damaged goods forever; they permanently undermine the credibility of SCOTUS; and they irretrievably tarnish their own legacies.
Just because they got away with the Thomas/Hill rush to judgment and the sandbagging of Garland, they now think they can pull off another one.
But times have changed; the worm is turning; it’s harder to pull this crap than it used to be.Force the issue and there will be consequences.
Jurisprudence? GOP don’t need no jurisprudence!
Agree 100%. Dr. Ford is showing incredible courage by speaking up, as she is surely well aware of what happened when Roy Moore’s victims spoke up:
Grassley’s doing a pretty good job of convincing me that Kavanaugh’s lying.
“Those who forget history are condemned to repeat it.”… Plus, Grassley is just plain stupid.
