It would be the GOP āruleā except that it keeps changing. Itās the McConnell rule ā lie and lie and lie.
I think itās only a matter of time before Grassley totally loses his shit. Maybe while debating Dem opponent Judge or even before that, but I think itās going to happen. He is an idiot, and has rarely been pushed by the media or other politicians. He does not know how to handle or laugh off criticism. And he has the same affliction that affects all modern Republicans - the āFoxNews thin skin diseaseā, which only flares up when they are outside of the FoxNews bubble.
They do politics like it was a game of CalvinBall. Just make up the rules as you go along!
You dumb fuck ā we know there isnāt a written rule somewhere. We just want you to justify your obstinence.
I canāt help but think this image is almost an analogous situationā¦a metaphor, if you will, for what the GOP/Teatrolls are doing hereā¦

Once again Patty Judge is not yet the dem nominee to run against Grassley. She is currently running against three other Dems to be the candidate to run against Grassley; however, according to many polls she is not the favotite. She was not the best received at the 2nd district convention. Both of those honors go to state senator Hogg.
āAs a historical happenstance, almost never in modern history has a vacancy opened up in the last year of a presidency when the Senate was controlled by the opposing party, meaning that there is no real precedent one way or the other guiding Republicansā current blockade.ā
Yes, thereās precedent. First, there is the clear language in the Constitution re. the Presidentās duty to nominate Supreme Court Justices, and the Senateās duty to āadvise and consentā on those nominations. Add to that, the common-sense interpretation of what āadvise and consentā means (i.e., it does not mean a refusal to consider, under any circumstances, any and all Presidential Justice appointments), and you have all the precedent you need to see the Republicans are, as always, full of shit.
You are a liar!
Come on Iowa, even you must be good and sick of this old fool.
When is the last time you honestly earned your paycheck Senator?

The so-called āBiden Ruleā was actually called the Thurmond Rule ā by the Republicans ā back when it was working in the GOPās favor.
My, how times change.
I thought the McConnell rule was to studiously do nothing. But either way, it applies!
āI use the term Biden rule, and people think weāve got a written rule, we donāt have a written rule, and maybe you can think of a better word than understanding,ā Grassley said. āI think that if you are going to get that precise, it ought be something thatās on paper.ā
January 21 comes to mind.
I have watched three separate videos (from different times in Grassleyās career) that show Grassley speaking of Supreme Court nominations where he strongly comes out against the exact position he is now taking. Why are we not seeing these clips daily?
āWe donāt have a written rule!ā
Not that youād fucking obey it if you did anyway.

Who knew Joe Biden was such a hallowed figure in Republican circles?
Reminds me of George Carlinās classic bit about praying to Joe Pesci.
Let me introduce you to our vaunted fourth estate:

So itās kind of like the Hastert rule. Whatever happened to that rule? No one ever mentions it anymore.
