Grassley also said that the Republicansâ current blockade
âwill help safeguard the integrity of the court.â
On the other hand, the senatorâs integrity has been broken beyond repair.
Olâ Farmer Grassley needs to be put out to pasture.

Iâd especially encourage all Iowans to take a moment to write. The stronger the backlash, the more we encourage the Registerâs editorial page to keep holding the fire to Grassleyâs feet.
Grassley is just doing his job as a Tea Party Repug - destroying the American government.
Senator Grassley, if this is a unique opportunity, doesnât that mean that it hasnât happened all that often in our past?
When Justices split, the case theyâve split on remains unsettled. Does that represent a functioning Supreme Court to you, or is it okay in the GOPâs view if the Court is a little bit broken?
If we had nine Justices, and no vacancies, would that prevent Americans from having a serious discussion about the meaning of our Constitution? If so, why?
Speaking of the Constitution, does the use of the word âshallâ in Article II, Section 2 give the President and the Senate an affirmative duty to appoint Justice Scaliaâs replacement? If so, how can you justify your current actions?
It occurs to me that theyâd probably be much better off just openly admitting that theyâre holding out hope for a Republican president whoâll nominate someone far more like Scalia than Ginsburg. Just admit it. No one, even those in 100% agreement, actually believes these increasingly idiotic excuses for their obstruction.
Thank goodness President Grassley was there to set us right about the constitutional responsibilities around the Supreme Court!
Has someone explained âoddâ and âevenâ numbers to the Senator?
At a certain point, shamelessness hits a level where you marvel that they donât burst into flames or get struck by lightning.
True, having a vacancy in and of itself isnât the anti-Constitution, Pro-ISIS position.
What IS the Pro-ISIS position is to negate the final year of a Presidentâs Term, to pretend that voters only get to vote for 3 Years and NOT the Constitutionally-mandated 4 years.
Grassley is officially taking the position of ISIS, and trying to destroy our Constitution and all it stands for.
Is it just me or is anyone else thinking this is gonna backfire horribly against the GOP?
Someone remind me when the Senate has ever refused to honor their Constitutional duty to confirm or reject a SCOTUS nominee. Iâm betting the answer is never.
I canât figure why heâs getting all cranky about this. Heâs just digging own hole deeper come re-election. If he just shut up and followed McConnell, thatâs bad enough, but mouthing off about it only makes it worse for him.
The number of justices on the court is largely irrelevant to this argument.
The President âshall nominate, and by and with the Advice and Consent of the Senate, shall appoint Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Councils, Judges of the supreme Courtâ
If the Senate refuses to do their job, they should resign, or be fired by the people.
That is the only argument. No other applies.
Welcome to the Senate, where the beauty of 2 Senators per State ensures that 20% of the population of the U.S. can control the Senate!
Thank your Founding Fathers, and start moving some damned Democrats to Utah and Wyoming. We CAN outbreed them.
Chuck Grassley is a coward. C O W A R D. Itâs time for him to retire to let someone who wants to do honest work for the pay he receives doing nothing. He is a leech, a welfare queen, leaving off taxpayers hard earned dollars.
It is interesting that the constitution gives the president the authority to nominate and appoint to the court, with the advice and consent of the senate, but says nothing about how many justices there are. That has been set by congress in statute, but grassley just wants to throw up his hands and say whatever, that stuff we pass donât mean nuthin.
Yeah. If the president had the same attitude yâall be yellin âtreasonâ.
âHe pointed to comments made by Justices Samuel Alito and Stephen Breyer that the Court would be able to manage with eight members.â
Consequently, Grassley has introduced the âEight Is Enough Actâ.
It fixes the number of Supreme Court Justices at their current number.
Until a Republican President is elected, or until Adam Rich finally completes rehab.
Whichever comes first.
Grassley also said that the Republicans' current blockade "will help safeguard the integrity of the court. And, itâs entirely American," he said.
âAmericanâ.
I donât think word means what you think it means, Chuckles.
