Not only does this tactic put unqualified crazies on federal courts for life, it devalues our democracy. Because now democrats will have to ignore traditional rules as well to undo even a tiny bit of the damage.

It’s very simple; when next there is a Democratic majority in the Senate, we show them we can play dirty too. Their hypocrisy and duplicity knows no bounds. We can and should follow suit.
When we retake the Senate, I plan to send the leaders a letter or two, explaining that I will expect nothing less than the same hardball tactics that were forced on us – none of this “returning to the old ways” shit. My letter will be respectful, well-written, methodical in listing what we endured and to-the-point about how I expect my leaders to conduct themselves from that day forward.
The question is: when the tables turn (and they always do) will the Democrats pull the same sort of dirty tricks? If Trump tries to appoint a S.Ct. justice in the last year of his term, will they steal the appointment for the next president?
They should. Use every dirty trick against these shitbags, and more. If you have power, you use it. Drive them into the sea.
No because they never do. They give republicans a pass ever single time.
It is up to us, the voters. When the time comes for the Democrats to retake the Senate, we need to start a massive–and I do mean massive–letter-writing campaign, phone calling campaign, email campaign explaining to them we will not stand for allowing the Republicans any leeway, none. If/when time ever presents itself where we have an opening on SCOTUS during the last year (after November 01st of 2019), then we are to run out the clock the exact same way those fuckers did to us. I will be highly pissed if my leaders even as much as hint they want to go by the old rules – and I will make it exceedingly clear to them. We all need to do so. Loudly, if need be. I propose we do only what they did to us, nothing more – but absolutely nothing less.
I send in donations to the DNC, the DCCC and the Senate Committee a few times each election cycle. They always send us questionnaires about specific topics and leave extra space for whatever else I might wish to discuss. Sometimes, I add a letter. I always am professional, to the point, heartfelt, etc.; never rant, etc. If there is a groundswell of people, a real movement, they will pay attention. And if they don’t agree, we all double down and make it clear to them our demands of fair and equal treatment is a two-way street and we will not demand anything illegal nor anything that wasn’t done to us.
I am still seething about the SCOTUS seat and all these other judicial appointments the GOP rode out the clock on – those seats are ours fair and square. I want the next ones when they come up. Period.
The GRASSHOLE will do anything to pack the courts with RepubliKKKlan rubber stamps.
