How stupid is this guy? I despise ICE and their Gestapo tactics, but this rich celebrity dickhead doesn’t deserve any sympathy. I’ll save my tears for people like the immigrant kids who are being housed in detention facilities while their parents are being deported.
A rapper in a Gucci hoodie: Fine, lock him up, deport him, whatever.
Not to mention his kind-hearted, community-building, understanding-enhancing lyrics like
How many times you got shot? (A lot)
How many niggas you shot? (A lot)
How many times did you ride? (A lot)
How many niggas done died? (A lot)
(Chanted over samples of someone else’s song, not even any original music.)
Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t care much about a celebrity getting deported. But maybe this will get the attention of people who haven’t been paying enough attention to what’s happening.
The only thing I’d add to that is if they’re not equally strict with Norwegian rappers then it’s a more concerning thing.
Not my kind of artist, but thinking back, I doubt Lennon would have been able to stay in the USA in the reign of Mr Tangerine Man
He wasn’t allowed for a long time anyway, as I recall. Some pot bust was the excuse. Just vindictiveness.
ETA no, they tried to deport him, in 1973, fearing his activism on the war, with the pot thing as the ostensible reason. But he fought it and in two years the deportation order was overturned.
Let’s see… 2019… 2006…
Hey!
The Feds immigration security enforcement is down to a 13 year backlog!
Let’s see now: Overstayed Visa since 2006; convicted of a “felony” for drugs in 2014; Meaning he either served his time or has been out on appeal-perhaps?? Yet ICE has known his whereabouts since…drum roll: 2014,2015,2016,2017 and 2018 but just happens to arrest him TODAY in Atlanta Home of the Superbowl… Knowing he’s nominated for two Grammy awards…in ONE WEEK (Feb 7). How utterly Coincidental. And…he didn’t arrive in the U.S. through that old EVIL Southern Border…
Bewildered at y’all in this comment thread who immediately assume ICE is a trustworthy source as to who is and isn’t a U.S. citizen
Are there Norwegian rappers?
Hmm, googled “norwegian rappers”…yup, they’re a thing.
a British citizen who entered the U.S. legally in July 2005 but overstayed his visa
A lot of people are saying a wall would’ve helped protect us from … Rapper 21 Savage.
(Isn’t that that “coconut and car trunk” smelling vape-oil?)
I went and looked! Hip-hop is a world-wide thing in my experience. I’m sure there are countries it’s frowned on officially but I’m not aware of any where the youth culture said no thanks.
A high wall.
But a higher marginal tax rate would probably be more effective.
He is a typical illegal immigrant, maybe a little more successful than most, but most illegals overstay visas.
As a musician, I recognize a virus when I hear it. I can feel the rhythm of dumbing. I’ve witnessed their fashion sense. As The Plague and Pat Boone have shown us, “that ain’t good.” Seriously.
I agree with your music assessment and your sartorial sensibilities, but I’d be remiss not to note that serious musicians said essentially the same thing when rock and roll first appeared on the scene. Just sayin’…
Melania Trump is in the US thanks to falsified visa applications/renewals. Check out all her past fraudulent visa docs and deport her…stat. A Slovenian woman lies in order to marry a Slovenly American.
