Discussion: Graham: Trump Shows 'Weakness' By Trying To Force Sessions To Quit

Oh, thats gonna leave a mark.
I think every single person here can project what MachoMan PP thinks of Lindsey as a man.

Oh, the brave, brave Lindsey Graham! Watch him boldly step in front of the cameras (which he seems to do with astonishing frequency) to say mildly critical things about Trump, and sometimes even other Republicans! How bracing! How courageous! And the fawning press coverage, how fabulous! And then watch him scurry back to do the bidding of Trump, or McConnell, like the good little Republican toady that he is. But oh, the press coverage! Isn’t it grand? Isn’t it intoxicating? Apparently displays like this by Graham and John McVain are what pass for courage in the Republican party these days.

I agree with this post 100%.

What kind of man’s name is Lindsey? Maybe I should ban the trans from #USSenate. Sad!

I also love it Raju tweeted “WEAKNESS” in all caps, for effect…

Graham has such a way with words.

However, the word herd is not ‘weakness’, the word is ‘guilt’.

Other good words… ‘complicity’, ‘collusion’, ‘treason’

BTW, here’s everyone’s favorite maverick McVain on Trump’s twitstorm about banning transgender people from the military: “There is no reason to force service members who are able to fight, train, and deploy to leave the military—regardless of their gender identity,” Anyone want to offer a guess on what McVain will do about it? I think our options here are probably limited to (a) occasionally say critical things about it but otherwise nothing; (b) or, if Trump were ever to seek Congressional approval of a ban on transgender people serving in the military, say mildly critical things about it and then vote in favor of whatever Trump proposes.

Wow, the GOP has its own purity troll.

Graham is not different from his fellow denizens. It is all a checkers game (not chess) to get what they want out of any given scenario personally.

I have been mulling over the healthcare actions versus the sanctions actions. The fact they overwhelmingly voted for extended sanctions, despite the White House desires is interesting. They recognize that something serious has happened and further it is a implied recognition that the President’s decision making is seriously flawed or compromised. The fact they are not doing the same with Healthcare tells me they are going to get something back for trying to kill the ACA. Those returns lie outside of the White House. They just seem to be currying favor. Look past that.

I do not believe they have any more faith in Trump than we do, but they are using him as their own Useful Idiot. The time is drawing near where Trump will be in such dispute that tying themselves to him will be a major detriment. They have signaled that their interests lie elsewhere with the sanctions vote. Will they make the jump? Some will, some won’t. But at the end of the day, our leaders have been incredibly cynical and willing to let this country thrash to death until they get what they want.

I find the weighing in on this matter over Sessions by various Goopers fascinating. Its still tepid, but it has promise.

I dont get where graham is going with this. He defends sessions and then dinks trump for not firing him. Is he provoking trump to fire sessions in order to make a clearer case for obstruction charges since the base of the decision is that he reclused himself from the russia investigation OR is he supporting trumps end game to fire sessions and install someone who will fire mueller?

OH Noes
Now he’s going to have to fire Lindsay…
and his understanding of civics will lead him to believe he can
This will be delicious

Is Graham goading Trump into additional obstruction of justice charges?

Firing Sessions because he followed DoJ policy in recusing himself in the Russia probe is hardly a bright move.

This is far from “mildly critical”. He basically straight-up called Trump a pussy.

Wow. A Republican used the “w” word to describe the actions of our deranged Oval Office Occupant. Weakness is a top 5 trigger word.

Excellent work Graham.

Expecting out-and-out craziness in twitter response.

Gowdy did something similar yesterday criticizing grumPP on Russia and urging more disclosure. I see the beginning of the end of the romance. It will look like small steps and scattered but it’s real.

Its like putting your baby toe in a bucket of ice cold water and seeing if you can handle the chill. If you can, a few more may try the bucket, and then hopefully move onto a pool of water, maybe even a lake eventually…

Its all about testing and tiptoeing around to hopefully, openly defy the royal asshole, and then seeing if the critique brings forth retribution or vengeance. If it rains on them, they’ll be sure to back off, unless they decide to do it en masse. They really have their work cut out for them…Can’t say I feel sorry for any of those pricks though. They made their beds when they made a deal with the orange devil. Let them lay in it now.

I think he might just hate the guy, and is needling him for fun.

There’s not always a deeper meaning.

Smart move. This will absolutely get a tweet response from Trump, its a direct attack on his manliness, and his ego CANNOT abide that sort of grievance.

Its also 100% true, and a weakness that Trump has long been ashamed. Thats why the created The Apprentice to “fire” people on national television every week…something that big was needed to salve his ego over such a huge character weakness.

Its clear this is why Trump is trying to get Sessions to quit.
