Discussion: Graham: Trump’s ‘Un-American’ Judge Attacks Offer Supporters Chance To Bail

Ugh. The thought of Lindsey Graham leading “Republicans for Hillary” makes my stomach turn…

“What a loser. He got 1% of the vote. I crushed him. He’s a nothing. A real nasty guy. And a loser.”

Yeah, me, too. But sadly, c.c., ideologically they are pretty close. Other than women’s issues, not a lot of space between them.

How long can loyalists maintain this political Heimlich maneuver before the victim succumbs?

“There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.”

Doubtful. Republicans have been trained over 30 years to always put party before country.

Oh, bullshit.

Graham went on to add “But of course I won’t bail on him and will vote for him in November”

“If anybody was looking for an off-ramp, this is probably it,” he continued. “There’ll come a time when the love of country will trump hatred of Hillary.” (SC Sen. Lindsey Graham)

Did I hear that right? – You love the country? – More than Party? Wait a minute!! Who are you and what have you done to Miss Lindsey?

Much like the very narrow ideological gulf between Richard (Coeur de Lion) I and Abbess Hildegard von Bingen.

Nope. Not going to happen.

The GOP base has now been distilled down to pure primal Id. Rump knows this and feeds them their mother’s milk. He gets the adulation and they get mother’s milk. Simple trade off for Rump. None of his supporters are looking for “an off-ramp” because, if they’ve come THIS far, they’re all in.

The low expectations phenomenon ultimately may favor Trump. At some point, he actually may realize that an insincere “admission” that he needs to change his tone would benefit him (a sane person would have recognized this long ago). If and when he acknowledges that he goes overboard sometimes, a parade of Republicans – parroted by mainstream media pundits – will say, “See, the Donald really is presidential material!.” Just you watch.

The MSM is a powerful force in getting unqualified politicians get elected: The bad guy behaves horribly, as comes natural to him. But the media “balances” coverage of this bad behavior by playing up some specious accusation of modestly bad behavior by the opponent. Even if it’s nothing comparable to the bad guys’ behavior, they give it equal time and ensure that their equally divided (GOP v Dem) pundits criticize it just as much. The more baseless the accusation, the more publicity they give it because just the claim generates controvery. Then, when the bad guy “apologizes” or simply moves a bit in a sane direction, the MSM has a storyline that he has a capacity for growth, while the better candidate – who failed to apologize for invented faults — is portrayed as unrepentant.

Bush sleazed into a National Guard unit and went AWOL, but people to this day think the absolutely heroic John Kerry was the chicken. Trump has been sued and gone bankrupt and exposed for multiple sleazy business dealings, so Hillary shouldn’t be trusted because she made money after leaving office.

No where in the article did I read that Lindsay is taking the off-ramp. Speaking hypothetically again, I see.

The establishment knows their base is un-American, unpatriotic even, but are too cowardly to act on it.

There have been a hundred “off-ramps”, construction zones, and collapsed bridges, Lindsey, if you’ve been paying attention. You own this guy. So forget about “off-ramps.”

Yeah, just like there was no daylight between Al Gore and George W. Bush – except for tax policy, the environment, transportation, civil rights, voting rights, guns, urban affairs, foreign policy, energy, and education. Other than that, and a few other things, Hillary and Lindsey are exactly the same.

Great Post. The combination of what you say and what is bracketed below from Trump should be engraved in the minds of every Democratic strategist.

Trump can accomplish nothing without a whore with a microphone shoving it in his face while asking butterknife questions. The only thing which could possibly stop the MSM from doing everything they can to make Trump versus Hillary into a “HorseRace” MIGHT be some MSM CEO or influential board member realizing that Trump can destroy THEIR positions…because the MSM concern for their fellow citizens, overall**, is less than that of Trump’s.

** The tepid responses given now by a few in the MSM may make for brownie points, but, right now against Trump, the country needs artillery, not BB guns.

[Trump himself seems unconcerned by the overwhelmingly negative response to his aggressive criticism of U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel. In a Monday call with surrogates, he reportedly urged his surrogates to “go at” reporters questioning them about a lawsuit involving Trump University and his attacks on Curiel.

“The people asking the questions—those are the racists,” Trump said, as quoted by Bloomberg Politics. “I would go at 'em.”]

Trump is literally trying to implement 1984 and The Prince as governance. People who ask questions about him incessantly talking about the race of Judge Curiel are racists for asking any such questions. If Trump can maintain his sanity and grip on the nomination we’re going to defeat him. 'This is the off ramps folks, if you think Trump is an insane racist who will destroy the Republican party now is the time to be brave and proven right." It tickles me to no end so many of them rushed to endorse him after his post-presumptive nominee bounce, may it be their anchors.
