Something doesnt smell right here. If you are Trump and you want to fire Rosenstein you might plant a story just like this in the NYT (He has done it before). Now Laura Ingram calling for him to be fired all feels a little too convenient.

Yes the need to investigate anonymous reports or dismiss stories out of hand seems to have vanished.
How can Trump possibly believe anything from the lying, “fake news”-infested, “Deep State”-controlled New York Times, whose very existence is owed to Trump being president in the first place? Otherwise, all they would have to report on and write about would be dog shows, restaurants, aluminum tubes, and yellow cake uranium.

Doesn’t Trump have to have a valid, provable reason to fire Rosenstein, and wouldn’t Rosenstein be allowed to fight back against any dismissal? I would hate to be in the legal shoes of the NYT if Rosenstein decides to fight any dismissal and sends his lawyers their way with some subpoenas. I don’t think they would be able to keep their sources anonymous when the reporting results in someone losing their job, and that person demands proof of the veracity of the story. But then, I am not a lawyer or an expert on government so perhaps someone could explain it to me.

This is a change of narrative for the election: look they* want to get the president. They* being Democrats.
I think that Trump is going to run on this. Perhaps setting up the Rosenstein’s firing for just after elections (November). And given the likely loses the GOP endures, he will be successful. They really need to keep Senate or expand it. If they do that will be enough to proceed with business as usual.
I want to say too, this is a good plan to use in elections (for the GOP).
