Discussion: Graham Lauds Trump Speech: 'The Most Presidential I've Seen' Him

To a small man a low bar may appear lofty.

I know people think Shepard Smith is a hero to those of us in the reality-based world, even though he’s on Faux, but the way I see it, if they allow him to tell the truth, how is it that every other show on Faux, bar none, is allowed to ignore what he says by not confirming those same facts, and allowed to say otherwise? They disrespect his straight reporting so they can lie to their viewers at will without an ounce of shame.

If I was Shep Smith and was truly concerned about my integrity as a reporter, I would ask, what the fuck am I doing there? No one else there seems to take what he says seriously, or as anything but a way to allow the station to claim they’re still some kind of news service, thus allowing the FCC perhaps to let them get away with their lies because at least they can claim they’re doing the bare minimum, and can check some kind of box that enables them to get a pass from the complete tabloid label. Maybe that’s all it takes to get licensed as a news service these days by the FCC. I don’t know. I never watch that channel.

Chris Wallace once in awhile fulfills the role of truth-teller as well, but not as often as he should. He’s still a GOP political operative and shill in most ways imo. Lately though, even he is beginning to see the writing on the wall. His father must be rolling in his grave…even though Mike Wallace could be quite the provocateur and tabloid reporter too when he wanted to be.

Faux TV, or tRump state TV as its seen these days should be regulated either as a news service with certain journalistic standards or as a complete tabloid enterprise. They can’t and shouldn’t be allowed to be both. But I guess I’m old-fashioned in that respect. And I have no illusions we’re well past that point and that will probably never again happen in my lifetime.

Agree 100% – whoever said that F&F should be classified as “entertainment” rather than “news” was spot on.

I am just surprised that, including Chris Wallace, there are some subtle and some less subtle pushbacks, which I read as a growing awareness that the tide may be shifting, albeit slowly and almost imperceptibly. Like the first wafts of an unpleasant stink on the wind.

I remain optimistic that the Trumptanic is going to go down sooner rather than later, and suspect that Faux Noise will be the canary in the mine on this one.

Graham couldn’t be more obvious in his complete sycophancy if he got down on his knees and kissed Trump’s ring. Of course I was thinking of a slightly different scenario that’s not ready for prime time.

Miss Lindsay simply has the vapors over Trump at this point.

“This is the most presidential I have seen President Trump.“

This is a very low bar Mr. Graham. Just because he was on his sedatives last night does not make his performance “Presidential.”

Canada won’t allow Fox on its airwaves and neither should we.

Well, it was Shep Smith. I mean, he may be the token fig leaf over there, but he’s still trying to represent an honest conservative take on the news.

So would I, but if it’s a choice between one lone voice in the wilderness, and no truth at all reaching Fox viewers… I won’t call Shep a hero, but I’m glad he’s there.

Bar. That may explain Graham’s utter detachment from reality. One too many glasses of chardonnay…

I think it’s a lot more than one, by now.

Maybe, but they can’t or shouldn’t be allowed ever to escape their responsibility for fomenting so many of these crises through their on-air “talent” and targeted audience demo. That either has to change in the future or we’ll be right back to where we are even after tRump somehow leaves office. I know. One step at a time. Still…its galling that they keep getting away with this shit. They are still the Father Coughlin of cable TV.

Wonder what his ratings are there. Not that it matters or that I really care. Just curious. I know Faux is intensely concerned about their ratings above everything else.

One gets the sense that tRump’s speech helped Lindsey achieve a certain level of satisfaction. The last time Lindsey was that satisfied was when he accidentally rubbed up against the washing machine during the spin cycle.

“Butters” Graham is dutifully dog licking Trump for the edification and enjoyment of his constituents in South Carolina.

Unfortunately we do allow them on our airwaves – they’re included on my digital cable package, for instance. Not many people in Canada watch Fox News, but they do broadcast here. I think I’ve literally never watched Fox News on my own television.

The Canadian broadcast rules that prohibit “false and misleading statements presented as news” apply to Canadian entities, so since Fox is American it just doesn’t apply. It does, at least, prevent a “Fox News Canada” from existing.
