Discussion: Graham: 'I Said My Piece' To Trump After 'Sh*thole Countries' Comment

Non-committal as ever. Sad.

Trump’s most shameful legacy may well be, by comparison, making Lindsay Grahm look like the good guy. (Feels creepy just typing that)

They did not say they "‘did not recall’ Trump using the phrase ‘shithole countries.’” They said “we do not recall the President saying these comments specifically.” It is not clear what “these comments” refers to in their statement. Don’t give them a pass when they are intentionally obfuscating.

So, Graham and Durbin revive their earlier work on immigration, and come up with something they think can be passed. Then, they take it to Trump. Why? Did they think there was any chance at all that he would not fuck it up?

“The American ideal is embraced by people all over the globe. It was best said a long time ago, E Pluribus Unum – Out of Many, One. Diversity has always been our strength, not our weakness. In reforming immigration we cannot lose these American Ideals.”

Though Graham did not directly confirm Trump’s remarks, his statement noting that he stood up to the President differs from a statement issued by other Republicans in the room. Sens. Tom Cotton (R-AR) and David Perdue (R-GA) claimed that they did “not recall” Trump using the phrase “shithole countries.”

Cotton and Perdue were struggling to get out of their white hoods at the time.

Sen Graham, you owe the American People more than these flimsy words. You need to communicate to US your direct response to the dotard! By the way, what is it that this dotard administration and their partner in crime Putin, have hanging over your head?

Durbin earlier:

“My colleague [Graham] spoke up and made a direct comment on what the president said,” Durbin said, according to MSNBC. “For him to confront the president as he did, literally sitting next to him, took extraordinary political courage and I respect him for it.”

And now Graham:

“I appreciate Senator Durbin’s statements and have enjoyed working with him…

Though Durbin knows differently, the duo thought that Trump was going to be sincere

Yeah Miss Lindsey whipped out her dance card and struck Trump off of it.

I’m so impressed.

Ummm…TPM, shouldn’t that read ‘I Said My Peace’? Either way…he’s full of shit. In that, I mean he’s a ‘Piece of Shit’.

I think you meant to say you gave him a piece.

Well, he was sincerely racist, sincerely impulsive, and sincerely incompetent. If Congress collectively want to do something about immigration, they need to just do it without his participation and present him with the bill to sign.

I am REALLY NOT trying to be a smartass here. You honestly made me wonder which it was. Here’s what I found:

Tom Cotton developed “cotton mouth,” and is a “cottonmouth,” as in a snake.

Thanks for sharing that.

At this point I’m hungry for any acts of decency.
