It would not be “in fact” abuse much less make the warrant invalid. The desperate partisan spin about the “Democrats funded the research” is irrelevant.
Whether the content of the reports rise to the level to warrant surveillance (further investigation) is what matters.
To accept the premise that it would be “abuse” is to say if Democrats come across or dig up information about foreign espionage or a crime, it can never be valid to investigate because it comes from Democrats.
It’s a horseshit premise that has been pushed and promulgated by Republicans to play the victim and “work the ref”.
Of course he’s also a prosecutor, and perhaps he realises that Trump is undefendable, thus paying lip-service to transparency, while perhaps hoping he’s out of there before all is revealed. You know, after looking at all of the photographs of him, I must say that Trey Gowdy would be a fairly decent-looking guy if he wasn’t Trey Gowdy.
I heard on MSNBC radio earlier that McCain has made a statement. I can’t quote it exactly but something along the lines of, “attacking the FBI & DOJ only serves Putin”.
If Gowdy is saying that sorely because he doesn’t want to be lumped together with a fuckin’ moron like Nunes because Nunes is just too much of a moron, I would totally understand the feelings…
