Yep, it will be beneficial for their welfare, and we can’t have that.
Your friendly neighborhood GOP.
geeze.
Or, to paraphrase the famous GOP line on giving the Panama Canal back to Panama, “We stole them fair and square.”
I think the operative term here is kidnapping. I’m pretty sure it’s still a criminal offense, for the moment. Somebody in this administration needs to be serving hard time.
The lack of empathy for other human beings seems to be either a characteristic of (or requirement for)** being a Republican.
It occurs much too often for happenstance explanations.
** or both?
The child welfare system deals with potentials of removal by evaluating homes, children, etc. In other words, the govt should do what it’s supposed to do. I’m guessing that the sponors always have been assumed (by sponsors, the kids, the govt) as temporary, much like the kind of temporary custidy that occurs with other kinds of family disruption. Local child welfare agencies probably lack the resources to deal with these kids because parents may be elsewhere in the federal system, so the feds need to be involved. This was a policy that was implemented without any real forethought in systems that have no idea what to do in the long run–unfortunately the feds have to take responsibility for that and redress the harm. The Administration clearly wants to do nothing because it would be forced to admit blame and this would be a long, messy, complicated process that will have a scandal or two along the way.
“Disrupting the family relationship is not a recommended child welfare practice,” Sualog wrote.
This is insane. The government did disrupt these children’s family relationships. But now, when these children live with people who are NOT their family, the government presents this “child welfare practice,” which it has NOT adhered to, in order to justify their crimes? Staggering, impudent, mendacious and wicked!
Shorter Trump Administration “There were lots of nice WHITE families who have been looking to adopt young children and LOOK! we suddenly had lots young children just lying around (after we kidnapped them) we can’t hurt those nice white people who took them in. Can we? Forget the parents who loved them they don’t count. Plus it would take effort to find the kids.”
Not snark
These people should be executed for crimes against humanity.
The Trump administration ripped children from their parents which caused irreparable harm to these children. Now, they are claiming to reunite these children with their parents would be disruptive to a family relationship. This is abuse on a huge scale.
An extraordinary effort is required after the extraordinary assholiness which caused the issue in the first place.
Kidnapping, torture, imprisonment without charges, and killing by the United States Government are all legal and, apparently, constitutional.
No democracy, no justice.
And Sarah Huckabee Sanders says that God wanted Trump to be President??? Good God Almighty!!
Her god is money.
WTF? You can’t take them from their sponsors, but you CAN take them from their parents? My goodness, are they advocating for stealing a child from their parents? And just GIVING it to someone else?
This is immoral. Just totally, completely, immoral.
There may be a finite number of things the new House can investigate, within its resources, but this should be very prominent among them. This was a deliberate and savage revenge taken on people who dared to try to immigrate or get asylum here. It was an attempt by Miller, Kelly, and others to terrify Central and South Americans into staying away for fear of losing their children. And they did it for long-range political advantage. The children have already been traumatized. It’s time for some pain among the people who caused it.
Trump is nothing more than a pimp, passing those kids around like prostitutes. And the Christian Right is all in with it? Sister Sarah even has the nerve to say God wants it that way? Republicans have turned this country into another Sodom and Gomorrah.
Funny how that lesson never seems to be remembered. Could it be because the consequences of “extraordinary assholiness” never rises to the same level of assholiness?
