Whitmer also won slightly more than half of the Democratic votes, while El-Sayed received more than 30 percent to Thanedar’s 17 percent.
I just want to point out that this is why everyone should be wary of polls these days, even ones that are considered to have some respectability. An NBC/Marist poll that came out only a couple of weeks ago had Thanedar in second place behind Whitmer, with El-Sayed coming in around 17% if I recall. Actually El-Sayed came in second place and made quite a good showing for his first time running. Plus he’s young and will be going places in Michigan politics if he so chooses.
