I wouldn’t trust them.
Lordy, I hope Cooper didn’t get played.
Charlotte repealed its LGBT discrimination protections?
Charlotte can always pass them again if the legislature doesn’t keep its word.
Hmph.
The $64 question is this: How much of HB-2 will the NC Legislature repeal? There is a bunch of shit unrelated to LGBTQ issues in that piece of legislative sewage.
Uhhh…and this is how a victory exactly? “You repeal your LGBT rights ordinance and we’ll repeal our anti-LGBT-rights ordinance and we’ll simply return to the non-protected-LGBT status quo?” WTF? How does the LGBT community in North Carolina feel about this?
Once the repeal is passed, all that it will take to make it law is for the current governor, HB2’s biggest defender, to sign it, right?
Bad move, Charlotte. What are the odds they only repeal the bathroom provision and leave all the other goodies, like the statewide minimum wage, intact?
@citizentompaine “Not great, Bob!”
They know it cost them business; end of story.
North Carolina’s Democratic Gov.-elect Roy Cooper says that the state legislature has agreed to another special session to repeal the law HB2, which limited LGBT protections. That is in agreement with the city of Charlotte, which has unanimously decided to repeal its own nondiscrimination ordinance once the law is repealed.strong text
These “Rethuglicans” are all soulless monsters, who do not deserve to live in decent society. Words can’t express my disgust and disdain for their lack of empathy and desire to maintain discriminatory practices against those they see as “abnormal.” May they rot in Hell…
Defeat. And in that regard the TPM headline is misleading, to the bigoted right.
Preview of what’s to come.
I fully expect them to repeal it only due to the economic problems that have come out of letting their dipshit ex governor pass it and then spend the next six years sulking because they had to concede to the faggots and queers. And I also expect them to also do a lot of crap to spite the Dems that will inevitably come back to bite them because Reps have no long term memory nor any foresight.
“This sudden reversal with little notice after the gubernatorial election sadly proves this entire issue originated by the political left was all about politics and winning the governor’s race at the expense of Charlotte and our entire state”.
Not to mention HB2 was a poke in the eye to Charlotte, for thinking they had a govt, is that comment what doublespeak sounds like with a Southern accent?
““Governor McCrory has always publicly advocated a repeal of the overreaching Charlotte ordinance. But those efforts were always blocked by Jennifer Roberts, Roy Cooper and other Democratic activists,” McCrory spokesman Graham Wilson said…”
Complete and utter bullshit.
@tgoet–I read that article–Chilling. And, as they used to say at the old school movie previews: “Coming soon to a country near you.”
Exactly my point. ugh
