“Gov. Brownback Now Wants To Raise Taxes On Cigarettes And Liquor”
OH GAH DAMMIT!!!
States with no income tax consistently grow faster than those with high income taxes.
Apparently he hasnt paid attention to what is happening in his state or he is willfully ignorant.
I can see this as the beginning of the end. Of Brownback.
Leave the cigs and booze alone!
The political right in this country: always trying to find that perfect balance of appeasing both the theocrat moralists and the anarcho-capitalists while also trying to operate in a reality which contradicts all of their fundamental worldviews.
Add in Guns and Ammunition and he will have the Tea Baggers demanding his lynching.
Then again, tax the crap out of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms because, you rarely see one being used without the other two in Kansas.
That’s sure to be popular.
He needs to find some source of revenue to pay for his future tax cuts to the well-off. After all, there is no free lunch.
That’s sure to be popular with his base!

OMG…beat me to it and the wording was the same…GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!!
Ah, yes–let’s raise the tax on items that disproportionately impact the poor. I’m surprised he didn’t include a tax on Flamin’ Hot Cheetos while he was at it.
Oh, so he did this AFTER he got re-elected. Interesting. Had he done this before that, he would have lost his re-election run in 2014. He only won by 3%.
Slime.

Didn’t he say that lowering taxes was the only way to increase revenues?
And, don’t conservatives hold the belief deep in their hearts that asking only some people to pay taxes for services that everyone uses makes those who do not pay ‘takers’?
Do these people ever listen to themselves?
Good thing Boehner isn’t from Kansas.
I live in NH, a state that has both no income tax and no sales tax I can flat out tell you states with no income do not grow faster. Unless millionaires moving here after retirement to protect their income is considered growth.
Now here is what no income tax does. Because the state does need revenue it relies on fees and property taxes to get that revenue. The fees are basically regressive taxes slapped on anything and everything and property taxes are high enough in some places that when folks who have lived in their homes for years if not generations can no longer afford to to stay in them because of reduced income. Oh the state also owns the liquor stores so there is that and the prices are pretty good;)
Ahh… SIN taxes.
I bet that will be how he tries to spin it to his god-bothering base. You know, taxes on those folks, not us.
