Discussion: Gorsuch Elected As Trustee Of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation

Williamsburg: where wenches, slaves, and muskets live on. Gorsuch should be the mayor.

Gorsuch has been dying to wear a powdered wig and pantaloons.

Mission Accomplished…

High gloss, overpriced tourist trap for the Vineyard Vines set.

Williamsburg: the monument to America’s Original Sin of slavery and genocide.
H/t to Jim Wallis of Sojourners. (AKA, there are some good evangelicals.)

IIRC from my childhood visit, lo, these many years ago, they still have stocks there.

I would be all for sticking a few members of the Trumpster Crime Family in the stocks, also a couple of members of SCOTUS. With bushel baskets of rotten tomatoes and cat turds standing around nearby.

Just for some good old-fashioned fun, you understand.

Founding principles like 4/5 of a Person?

Colonial Williamsburg is the world’s largest living history museum.

One more reactionary appointment, and Trump will have succeeded in turning SCOTUS into the world’s most powerful living history museum.

Actually, the story of slavery is confined to its own, hard to find, area which allows everyone to pretend that the early years were all about revolutionary glory. Fitting for our SC “libertarian”.

Boy, if this isn’t a harbor for the “originalists”, I don’t know what is.

And I thought trustees were supposed to be reputable people who could bring a profile to the organization and make it desirable for others to donate money. Gorsuch is such a nonentity that even SC watchers don’t remember him except as the guy who stole Merrick Garland’s chair.

And while you’re visiting Williamsburg, I know a fabulous hotel and resort you should check out.

The executive order is a test run for future orders by Trump that will be made to circumvent congress. It will be a test of the Supreme courts support and subordination to Trump in advance of the 2020 election. If the court supports Trumps actions, count on the election being subverted by the GOP.

Isn’t that the one where they had some complaints about the representation of slavery?

In the late 1920s, the restoration and re-creation of colonial Williamsburg was championed by the Reverend Dr. W. A. R. Goodwin, other community leaders, such organizations as the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (now called Preservation Virginia), the Colonial Dames, the Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Chamber of Commerce, as well as the scion of the Rockefeller family, John D. Rockefeller, Jr., and his wife, Abby Aldrich Rockefeller, to celebrate rebel patriots and the early history of the United States.

He better step down from the court then as he will be far too busy.

Maybe he should hang in there until late January 2021… we could end up w/ Gohmert instead

Of course. When you want to take things back to the 18th Century, hire a Republican.
