Discussion: GOP's Response To SOTU: Obama Needs To Work With Us

Discussion for article #232260

Joni got the memo and so will regurgitate it but clearly the statements of McConnell and others in that secret meeting in January 2009 never entered her consciousness. The work she’s talking about and the progress it represents could have been accomplished if the Rs hadn’t taken that stance.

“Congress is back to work on your behalf." Well, I hope she can say that with a straight face since there has been no evidence that they were working on our behalf since 2009.

" … and if you think we Republicans are serious about accomplishing any of the things I’ve just mentioned, well, bless your heart. And God bless America."

Joni is quite delusional. I expect her to bomb like Rubio before her.

Will she come across like Bobby Jindal ?Or as jm says "bomb like "take a swig " Rubio ?

Mandate? The Republicans won a lot of gerrymandered districts but they did not receive the most votes in the Midterm elections. If she was a male, someone might castrate her for telling a lie like that. For instance, The Senate’s 46 Democrats got 20 million more votes than its 54 Republicans.

We know who the GOP thinks their rising star is. Too bad every would be star before her - Jindall, Rubio - has flamed out. Will she bring a hog castrating device to make a point? We can hope not.

Shorter version - blah blah blah America yadda yadda yadda taxes blah blah blah election blah blah blah GOD and JESUS.

It would be useful if Republicans in Congress worked FOR the American people and FOR the future of our nation and not just for their very generous benefactors in the fossil fuel industries.

There’s an article out today that as early as John F. Kennedy, there was a concern that we needed to deal with global warming. That’s a long time for those people supposedly working for the American people to be ignoring the “reality” of the world. It’s embarrassing that global warming denialism is over 50 years old. And the thermometer keeps rising.

Maybe she’ll say something about a volcano.

New GOP Congress with 15% approval.

Nobody is taking your seriously, McTurtle. You’re a freaking joke.

Really? She can say this with a straight face? After what the GOP has done since 2010?

STFU Joanie.

Marco Rubio:water::Jodi Ernst:bread bags. Seriously, I couldn’t listen to anything after that. Because my husband and I were cracking up too bad.

Joni Ernst campaign banner…

Like the GOP needed to work with him …the guy who beat you twice by significant margins of popular and electoral college votes…

you know what you lot can go do with that request, right?

fun so were my husband and I

It’s disingenuous, if not downright deceitful, to use the phrase, “the failed policies like Obamacare.” Compared to what we had before Obamacare, it’s a glorious success. A single-payer option would have been better but until the Republicans put some substance behind the “Repeal and Replace” meme, they have a lot of nerve calling the ACA a failure. Or maybe Erst is just another tick in that Republican majority who likes the ACA but reviles Obamacare.

MSNBC was running an interactive viewer pulse thing at the bottom of the screen during the various speeches, under the question “Do You Agree With What [Speaker] Is Saying?” When Ernst got into the bread bag story, the pulse completely bottomed out, both red and blue lines – representing Republicans and Democrats – sinking to the very bottom of the screen, where they stayed until MSNBC cut away from the technology.
