The discussion of the situation in Maine fails to account for an important consequence of the demographics - having the oldest population also means that a larger percentage of the state’s population is insured under Medicare. You know, that evil, socialist program that is sooo unpopular among those over sixty-five. These folks are out of the picture as far as the “markets” for individual (and group) insurance. With a total population of ~1.4 million, the numbers of people involved in the PL90/ACA/AHCA brouhaha is laughably small, and yet Ryan and his band of geniuses want to use a tiny group to model a program for tens of millions. GMAFB!
This is nothing more than re-labeled, overly-boiled snake oil – exactly what we’ve come to expect from the likes of Paul Ryan.

The GOP’s goal is to give the appearance of trying to do something without ever accomplishing anything. To that goal this should work very well indeed.

The only thing the Dems should be making perfectly clear is that there is no “healthcare” in the GOP healthcare plan … just words. They say that the truth will set you free … but people don’t seem to be interested in it. Debate the “finer points” of the GOP plan all you want but there is just NO HEALTHCARE there unless you have money/.
