Good comparison. Once you take an oath to do your job, DO YOUR JOB.
Stop pullin’ your pud, TeaPud!
Price of a government shutdown 29 Billion and 120,000 jobs. Screwing the middle class over faked videos and pandering to religious nut-jobs, priceless.
I keep wondering when anti-abortion America will finally wake up and realize Republicans are using them; Republicans will never outlaw abortion because then those voters would be satisfied and stay home. They only bring it up when it’s a safe bet a Democratic President will veto it. I keep wondering when main-stream Christianity will wake up and figure out what “Christian” nut-jobs in politics are costing them, and tell them to sit down and shut up. Silence implies consent. So it’s no wonder that the pews are empty.
Well said and very positively phrased.
Thank You.
But you must realize, these ultra conservative, evangelical, public servants(?) don’t have to do their jobs if their god tells them not to. They will just continue to collect their paychecks (from us!) and let the government rot. Somehow I always thought that amounted to theft and treason. Doesn’t sound very Christian to me.
We used to lock up people who obeyed the voices no one else could hear. Now they become GOP candidates.
Bravo, Congressman Honda! You need to share this with all your colleagues in the House, as well as the Senate. “Dereliction of duty” is a kind way to refer to the recent legislative history of the Congress. I do wish Senator Cruz would remember to which house he was elected; he seems to think he’s Speaker of the House, and not a junior senator from Texas.

Worth noting that while the 80 year old Export-Import Bank now lies unfunded due to maneuvering by Tea Party fanatics, GE has just announced it is shifting 500 US jobs overseas. The jobs are for production of power generators and GE is competing for literally billions in overseas contracts for such equipment. Loan guarantees for such projects have been essential to winning approval because traditional banks will not participate without such procedures, especially when the projects are in countries with limited capital resources.
The GE jobs are going to France, Hungary and China, all of which have agreed to provide guarantees from their own domestic versions of ExIm in return for having production moved to their countries.
That’s 500 direct US jobs lost, not to mention possible loss of business by the numerous US companies that provide parts and material to GE for those systems. 60 nations have their own versions of ExIm Bank to stimulate trade, and the jobs that go with it. The idiots opposing the US Bank are unilaterally disarming our ability to compete.
