I’m heartened (but only a wee bit) that the ones who got up and left were furious by this misplaced religious hatred – but they have only themselves to blame. The GOP has welcomed these hate-filled people into their ranks for such a long time now that the haters feel totally comfortable pulling these types of stunts. I do, though, hope we’re starting to see more support from some within the elected Republicans to get this kind of crap out of our legislation, out of the Halls of Congress. More of this, please!

It is beyond time to stop the practice of adding amendments to all bills that have nothing to do with what is on the table. This is one reason why nothing can ever get passed. And both sides do it. If these amendments can’t get passed on their own merits, then don’t bring down legislation that may end up benefiting the millions.
