Reprehensible, but I can’t help feeling that this is what happens when you stoke anger for years.
It would make sense if both parties would mount campaigns after the election to explain why the process is what it is. Or if they capitulated to common understanding and switched to a method more linked to popular vote in each state, even preserving parts of each party’s nomination “distinctiveness” as long as it was explained for the benefit of non political-lifers.
“There have been a few [messages] for myself and others that have referenced personal things, things you’ve said on social media, references to our families, references to our houses, things like that that feel a little bit more ominous,” he said.
Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah, I remember now - Wisconsin recall! Love to see them turning their guns on their own party. Complete with Ted Cruz saying Trump supporters are using the tactics of “union thugs”.
Ah, a civil way (uncivile?) among Trump’s SS (btw, that’s SchutzStaffel, as in para-military) and the general GOP. Too bad a lot of those threats won’t get carried through…we’d all be better off with fewer of them, no doubt.
I would like to think that this experience with bullying would get some of these people thinking about the similar pain Republican policies inflict on LGBT, minorities, and women accross this country everyday, but I’m not optimistic.
Since most of Donald “the draft dodging coward” Trump’s supporters have a greater number of teeth in their head than their IQ, this would be their expected reaction to discovering that their vaunted candidate was too stupid to learn the rules.
Oh well, hanging a few Republican delegates only improves the gene pool and increases Clinton’s chances.
Not being optimistic is wise. The more research results on cognition you see, the more it generally seems people react emotionally to things and dream up rational-sounding justifications for their reactions. Even very bright people can easily accommodate some really conflicting ideas. Actual rational thinking like what you’re talking about there isn’t the rule and it takes a good bit of special training before most people can do it. This has helped me reconcile myself to the fact that people aren’t going to smarten up in my lifetime. I always thought they would, somehow, and they kept not smartening up. : (
Yes, we’ll see how the GOP likes it now. I do hope that actual fighting breaks out, maybe a shooting or two, kids harassed on camera, wives followed on shopping trips, you name it.
Yes, I do advocate what the Trump fans are doing since their idiocy will drive more and more thinking Americans to our side as Trump’s SS troopers show their real colors!
Saying Trump is dangerous is one of the reasons that I often piggyback your posts. There are not enough of us.
I still do not believe that it has sunk in about Trump.
It has not.
In 1930 Rafael Trujillo used to have his henchmen drive a red Packard called “Carro De La Muerte” shooting people at will (once shooting a pregnant woman in the stomach). In 1930, Trujillo was elected with more of a margin than there were eligible voters.
Snark is long past the due date with Trump. I, too, engaged in it. Months ago, I was parodying his speaking style.
The Black Shirts are rising up and are “Mad as Hell” (like we didn’t know that already) and “are not going to take it anymore!!!”
Trump has ripped the cover off of the dirty (large) secret that EVERYBODY except Republicans already knew about the current Republican Party; That it has become the party of racists, misogynists, fascists, and lunatics.
Hey Republicans: You Built This!
They are coming to take you away… even if you aren’t black, Hispanic, pregnant or gay.
The Aryan Nation has taken over the GOP and will take over everything else again if those conservative cowards don’t stand up for common decency. Do any of us think they have it in them any longer? Not a chance. I can’t think of one Republican who could stop Hitler or Stalin…much less The Donald.
Mostly they really haven’t. They get a few feel good things that stick it to “others” thrown at them, even though they have no idea that they also are part of the group that will suffer.
Capital gains cuts, union gutting, “death” taxes, corporate bailouts, etc., trade deals, slashing regulations, etc. don’t do a damn thing for “the mob”.
