Discussion for article #229395
He does not even know how to pander to racism, and ignorance properly. Itās all about gays, and illegal immigrants this year you dumb shit
His cup of derp overfloweth.
If fervent support for an ethnic slur was the best way I could come up with to rally the troops, I think I would get new troops.
If you want to get those votes you have to focus on the important issues of the day.
Doubtful anyone will be hiring him as a āRepublican Strategistā in the future or even allowed to comment on anything political for that matter. Time to retire, Ed . . . . . .
Iāll contribute some money so Ed can get himself a chin.
The thing is, even though I disagree with nearly every utterance that comes out his mouth, Gillespie has never struck me as a stupid man.
This ad is justā¦bad. He is barely articulate. āWhy Warner fight the anti-Redskin billā Thatās not even a comprehensible sentence. āWhy wonāt he answer the questionā āIāll answer the questionāā¦and then he proceeds not to answer the question.
Sort of like that old Ratt song, Round and round. He keeps telling you through out the song he will tell you whyā¦but never does.
OH YEAH - the paramount campaign plank!
- Iāll Oppose Redskins Name Change
thatās it - after he searched his soul for the most important message to send to the voters - this is what he chose?
Gillespie, WE oppose YOU for Senatorā¦
What a pandering Asshatā¦oh, waitā¦he IS a Republican.
Heās got oneā¦itās up Karl Roveās Ass.
Ed āThe Chinless Wonderā Gillespie always knew he would lose.
This campaign has been his introduction to the state of Virginia, and unless Iāve been wildly misinformed by people I trust, Gillespie is using this as a platform to run for governor against McAuliffe.
Heāll lose that race, tooābut heās likely to make the run anyway.
Iām with Custer!
Iām not familiar with W. Va, but is a Washington sports team really a pressing issue there?
Anyway, I am marveling over here because I thought Warner was jubilantly called by the āliberalā media a āvulnerable Democratā this election cycle. Either Gillespie is REALLY bad or the press is truly clueless.
It is Virginia, not WV.
And while I doubt that the name of the sports team is a voting issue for many in the state, it is very much the topic of much heated discussion. Northern Virginia is a hotbed of support for the team (they have their training camp there), and support further south in the state is still significant (if not quite as passionate).
Remember, this is the state that elected George Allen - the son of the former coach - to Congress and US Senate, largely on his name ID associated with the team.
But it is probably safe to say that just about any voter who would decide what candidate they are supporting based on this issue is already a solid Republican voter.
And heāll throw in a free toaster with the deal, if youāll just vote for him, pretty please with sugar on topā¦
Doesnāt he know heās already toast? Maybe even French toastā¦
Because clearly the name of a professional football team is the most burning issue of our timeā¦
Jeff Shapiro, the reporter for state politics for the Richmond Times-Dispatch, has also said that Gillespie is using this campaign as a stepping-stone toward running for governor in 2017, but he wonāt be running against McAuliffe, because Virginia does not allow governors to serve consecutive terms. McAuliffe could run again, but not until 2021.
And thatās the problem. Virginia Democrats do not have a very deep bench, and I couldnāt begin to guess who might be the Democratic nominee in 2017. If itās someone like Creigh Deeds (great guy, but a lousy candidate), Gillespie might well win. I can only hope the McDonnells will be back in the news for some reason and reminding Virginia voters why electing Gillespie might be a bad idea.
Mark Warner a āvulnerable Democratā in Virginia? Not hardly ā heās one of the most popular ā possibly THE most popular ā politicians in the state, besides which Republicans are not exactly in Virginiaās good graces these days. (See McDonnell, Bob and Maureen) Iām surprised Gillespie is only 10 points behind.
There may possibly be a training camp in NoVa, but the Redskins opened one in Richmond to great fanfare a year ago this summer. It has proved quite popular and has drawn a lot of people to the city from all over the region.
