Discussion: GOPer Apologizes For Saying Businesses Are Allowed To ‘Turn Away People Of Color’

Well, that does seem to be the implication of the latest SCOTUS ruling–at least as long as your racism is a firmly held religious belief.

This is actually a pretty standard libertarian talking point, along with “of course I don’t agree with it, but the free market would punish them for that stance, and the government has no business deciding this position.” Rand Paul accidentally said this out loud a few years ago, if anyone remembers.

Then libertarians openly wonder why they can’t get more Black people supporting them (spoiler: it’s the views of actual libertarians).

This is standard ideology of libertarians. Businesses (including hospitals) should be allowed to turn away customers for any reason, and “free markets” should decide if that business should remain viable.

Because freedom.

Sad that it’s porn 'staches that lose elections and not profoundly un-American comments like this one.

He should be careful here. If businesses excluded all dumbasses from their establishments, conservatives would have no place to eat.

Bingo. Yesterday’s SCOTUS ruling will dovetail from religion to a “strongly based belief.” Count on it.

claiming he would “never advocate discriminating against people based on their color or race.”

You would never do it? But you just literally did exactly that.

Pop Quiz:

Compare cake bakers to NFL players.

  • Which have a “G-d given right to free speech”?

  • Which are “sons of bitches who should be deported”?

“I’m sorry I said that”

I bet you are, but that’s not really the point.

The legislator seems ignorant of the law. He needs to refer to the 1968 Piggy Park case.

Attention Staff

It is the owner’s strongly held belief that he does not like Rep Michael Clarke.

He has been banned from the restaurant.

If he refuses to leave, please call the police.

He believes businesses have the right to exclude African-Americans from their establishments, then criticizes African-American players for kneeling. Unreal!

Interesting. He said he’d never advocate discrimination based on race right after doing just that in a forum open to the world. He can apologize for the words but no apology will take out of him what motivated him to say them. That’s still there.

How badly do businesses in South Dakota want to turn away people anyway? I think they’d want to weep with gratitude every time someone walks in.

Come on guys, he simply meant that businesses should be able to deny services to queers… which is okay because: Jesus.
