How many people died as the result of terrorist activity in the US from 2001-2009? Close to 3000. How many died from same from 2009 to present? Single digits, and most probably because the terrorists were domestic conservative reactionaries incited by right wing rant radio and Fox. So yeah, bring it, Repos.

I hope I live long enough to see America discover once more what grand things she might well accomplish without some political hack from either Party having to pull some bogeyman out of nowhere, and the nohow. These hacks have taken to using this cockamamie “threat” as if they were trying to scare the National child into going to sleep after one too many glasses of water. These bedwetters cannot find or sustain any vision or idea to uplift the Nation or its people, so rather, they fall back to fear.
It won’t work on me. And I’ll tell you why. My immunization from this tactic is simple. I’m old enough to remember a great man who once told a frightened Nation that “All we have to fear is fear itself.”
I simply and utterly refuse at any and all points to let people who use fear as a club gain any hold over me. The thing that makes me so sad and angry at the same time is that people today have given up both their minds and their wills to individuals like this, whose only method to motivate people is as blind and unreasoning as the fear was back in 1933.

Dems should go on the offensive on this issue by highlighting the fact that under Republicans we lost over 3,000 Americans Islamic terrorists. Second the response to the Brown ad should be, “okay, what would you do different? Would you put troops on the ground like Bush did in Iraq?” Asking that question in 30 second spots would force Brown to say what he would do different. Right now the GOP is getting away with criticizing the President’s approach without having to offer an alternative.

Just when you’re trotting out your “Security Mom” ads, Obama leads a coalition which takes decisive military action against the scary guys in your ads. Worse yet, the cool- looking cockpit cams of the airstrikes are playing on the TV Tubes 24/7.
Yet the whiney Republicans are now slamming him.

Oh, come on! Seriously? First it was all the kids coming up from South America, all of whom will kill us with latent Ebola, and then vote whatever Republicans are left out when they register to vote! Now ISIS is going to be on our front door tomorrow?
That said, I was at a concert back in August, and an usher I struck up a conversation with said essentially the same thing. We may not be buying this – particularly Lindsey Graham shitting his pants on MTO (or wherever he did it) – but the base is buying it, and it’s one more way the GOPhers are trying to get their people to the polls.

Obviously the panic about ISIS–all 20,000 of them–taking over the country is absurd. Obviously the idea that the 9/11-allowing and invading-Iraq-on-false-pretense Republicans are better against terrorism and with regard to foreign policy generally is beyond ludicrous. Also it’s clear that these concerns are highly unlikely to decide the upcoming election. Still I can’t deny that those polls referenced in this story make me alternately furious and depressed.

Only a NYT/CBS poll was referenced and considering that it’s the AP it probably was the poll that showed the worst results for Democrats.
