Discussion: GOP Turn To Romney To Fill Role Of Elder Statesman, Counterweight To Trump

Counterweight??
That pic is going to be really ugly.
It will look like trumpster bent over walking on 4 legs with 4 arms dangling with mitts head shoved so far up trumps ass.
Might as well put a micky dee’s feed bucket on trump to finish it off.
At least the balance will be better.

Then the gop should be prepared to be disappointed. Romney will say and do whatever he has to in order to win the election, even if that means sucking up to trump

Right! I laughed on reading this. Romney is jello. Running in Massachusettes he claimed to be more liberal than Ted Kennedy - even passed the precursor to Obamacare, running for President he adopted Kris Kobach’s immigration policies of making life so miserable (by laws) that they would ‘self-deport’, and ran on messages that were just a tad to the left of Sarah Palin.

Now he would be a spineful statesman to ‘counter’ Trump? Damn I just started laughing again.

However, think about this item/sentiment bubbling up into the reportage of the AP and what that says about how the GOP really feels about Trump, the administration, and their congressional delegations that vote with Trump and his administration. In that light - this item is rather interesting a year into the Trump era.

LOL
The MAGA crowd doesn’t give a flying fig about what Mitt has to say about Drumpf. The Republican Party is now the Drumpf Party. Anyone running as a Republican is going to do Drumpf’s bidding.

Romney has been on every side of every issue, so much so that he is basically a political cross dresser.

Well, actually only 47 percent of Mittens will be available as counterweight. The rest is just deadweight.

Has anyone else noticed how quiet the “elder statesman” has been about … everything?

That, my friends, is what Rethugliklans call [strikes an iconic Mary Katherine Gallagher victory pose] “leadership!”

More like a cross-dressing chameleon.
Profound apologies to chameleons and all amphibians in general.

Referring to Mitt Romney as an “elder statesman” is like referring to Sarah Huckabee Sanders as the “Playmate of the Month”.
Mittens isn’t an “elder statesman”. Mittens is a 2:30 AM local TV ad used car salesman. With whiter teeth. And Magic Underwear.
