Discussion for article #223448
Cam you imagine if the Democrats went after a recently returned POW?
“He wouldn’t drink beer or eat barbecue and hang out with the other 20-year-olds,” Cody Full, another member of Sergeant Bergdahl’s platoon, said in an interview on Monday also arranged by Republican strategists. “He was always in his bunk. He ordered Rosetta Stone for all the languages there, learning Dari and Arabic and Pashto.” Seriously? This is your gripe? He didn’t drink beer and eat barbecue with you? Two things that he may have had moral issue with? And shame on him for attempting to learn the language of the people in the nation he was stationed in. Why would that ever be useful?
The GOP is spinning this up to be the replacement for BENGHAZI!
Wait and see.
“arranged by GOP strategists”
To avoid being suckered by these half-wit GOP fax artists, maybe the gossipy and celebrity-laden Today Show should air in the afternoon or maybe employ someone with military service on their resume?
I don’t suppose the GOP could let the military do their job and decide to give him a medal or send him to Leavenworth. Gossip queens is what they are.
Their plan is pretty simple. No beer and no BBQ = closet Muslim. That and learning the languages of the locals. These people are evil and the “liberal” media should be embarrassed at how they’ve covered this.
"Everything that we did in those days was to advance the search for Bergdahl. If we were doing some mission and there was a reliable report that Bergdahl was somewhere, our orders were that we were to quit that mission and follow that report.”
and this…
“and said his fellow “soldiers died trying to track him down.””
Sounds like an overzealous commander who didn’t want this on his record ordered a lot of dangerous missions… is this standard procedure, or does there seem to be an inordinate amount of risk taken?
Most of this peer-bitterness comes from those risky assignments, not Begrgdahl’s captivity, per se.
more a sequel than a replacement, TLQ…
Tweety hauled out his angry bird face last night along with his own VietNam-era draft dodger guilt to echo NBC’s current stand with the insane rightwing and posters here have given glints of the Morning Joe babble. CBS has been surprisingly moderate in their morning news coverage and I don’t even want to think about the dreadful, winger-guided ABC approach.
Palin would go off like a Roman candle, just for starters.
He didn’t fit in, so it was no biggie if they never saw him again.
The GOP needs a Benghazi replacement while the media needs a fresh fight to paper over their inability to develop a story and generate some viewers.
You know who Bowe reminds me of, even though the outcome in this situation is very different?
Pat Tillman.
Where’s John McCain on all of this? Seems like a comment from him on his fellow party member’s efforts to paint a fellow pow negatively for partisan political purposes warrants his comment. He’s in a corner on this one.
omg… he ordered Rosetta Stone to learn the languages of those he’d be interacting with… clearly, he’s a traitor to the values of duh-murica…
hot damn, 2 days and full-on media scrum that i am beginning to wonder if it won’t result in bergdahl’s suicide… these people are so friggin contemptible the way they play with people’s lives. as if any of these media fuckers gives a shit.
I think Obama should offer the GOP the opportunity to negotiate reversing the deal and giving the soldier back to the Taliban.
I’m glad the platoon didn’t find him first. Due process compared to summary justice on the battlefield. Now we have a skirmish with the almighty chicken hawks.
“Bookish”
Salute, follow orders and and do your duty. That is all. Dismissed.
