No, as much as I’d like that to be true, diversion is a standard resolution in those cases where a defendant has no record. She may have had other benefits because of her race and parent’s economic standing, but I doubt this was one of them.
I’m willing to bet she has job offers! She’s probably already typing for Tucker Carlson.

The charges were dismissed since Lauten was a first-time offender and she didn’t get into additional trouble.
Probably closer to, ‘charges were dismissed because Lauten signed an agreement with Belk security to never again set foot inside any Belk department stores.’

One, this lady’s comment on the Obama girls was dumb. Two is was unnecessary to do a background check on her and publish it on this website. Three, it was cruel for her to lose her job because of an offhand comment, dumb or not. She did apologize.
