Big Guns? McCain will crash them, Rayn will smoke them.
The thing is, if “Republican” is your problem, more Republicans aren’t going to be the solution.
Like the people who were thinking of voting for the Independent would be influenced positively by this group of GOP losers?
The GOP Governor and legislature gave the rich huge tax cuts to create jobs and the state ended up losing huge numbers of jobs instead. Voters are pissed and are sick of the Top 1% screwing the middle class and working poor.
McCain? Then who’s going to be on the Sunday talk shows?
I can’t think of one Republican that could pacify the middle class revolt in KS. Sending in these clowns is like flashing a red cape in front of a raging bull.
Big Guns? So this is a Second Amendment solution?
Given the way that Republicans have so royally fucked over Kansas, this may be classic case of rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.
Brownback is going to lose (barring a miracle direct from God) and he’s going to have some strong reverse coattails.
Good luck with that.
Climbing out of a -10 point hole will be incredibly difficult if not impossible.
Paul and McCain … Big Guns??? Really?
How it must gall Johnny that this wet behind odd ears Jr. Senator from Kentucky is considered a fellow big-name…
Do these cap pistols count?
Nothing says competency like calling in outsiders to help you on your home turf. Wait, does KS still count as Roberts home turf?
Orman has a challenge on his hand. He’s got a few big things working against him. First, the Republican machine is powerful - with more surrogates capable of rallying the troops (even these guys), Roberts will end up doing 5 events to every 1 Orman does and that matters in a state like Kansas. It’s about raising turnout (and depressing turnout), not changing minds.
Second, combined with the money advantage Roberts will have, the national R’s taking over are probably going to give Roberts a HUGE technology advantage for micro-targeting likely voters. Insurgents like Orman just don’t have that kind of tech normally, and Orman can’t ask the Democrats for help in this area.
Third, as the campaign gets meaner, Orman will spend most of his time on defense. His style of politics is “be the smartest most logical guy in the room” - but if all he’s doing is saying “I’m not a secret member of the Taliban” (or whatever) he will lose his ability to appear that smart. It’ll be a two front war (negative attacks and a superior R ground game) that will be a huge challenge for Orman.
That said, I think Orman can pull it out. The guy is SUPER smart, and a legitimate moderate supported by important Republican groups in the state (as well as liberal-leaning groups). I just hope he can get dirty and tough when it is needed without tarnishing his message.
Big Guns, Young Guns all bad names. Maverick in its reruns carry more weight. Where is Pee Pee?
If Roberts is so inept at running his own campaign as he’s proven to be, against relative newcomers to the world of national politics, no less, this proves to me that the man has simply lost his intellectual abilities to adequately represent the people of Kansas. He’s the walking definition of what Kobach clamis Taylor has not proven - the incapacity to perform the duties of the office. If the Party is sending in the big guns of the Senate to rescue Roberts, that’s an admission that he’s already toast, and that the GOP doesn’t have faith in his faculties any longer. They’re praying that he’ll win, then resign, and Brownback will apoint Kobach to fill his seat for the next 6 years. GOP desperation. The people of Kansas deserve much better than that.
A fundraiser for Roberts being held in DC? The ads for Orman write themselves.
Roberts’ problem is most Kansans know he isn’t from Kansas any more. It is known by all that his official Kansas residence is a recliner in a supporter’s family room. He only comes to Kansas when he has an opponent.
He needs somebody else to be tough for him. Maybe the Democrats can help indirectly. Remember they are running hard against Brownback and Kobach. The Kansas Republican establishment is going to be focused on winning those races. That is why the Republicans have been forced to bring in people from Washington.
Hmmm. A fund-raiser in D.C. for a race in Kansas. Looks like more GOP genius.
