Sorry Mr. Cotton. Most Americans, thanks to Trump, Heritage, Freedom Works, etc., donāt UNDERSTAND our immigration system. Actually, Iāll go farther. They donāt want to understand a damn thingā¦they just need someone to hate and the scary brown people are an easy target. Understanding takes workā¦and reading ability. Oh yeah, and empathy. A word that seems to be completely foreign to most conservatives, IMHO.
I think most people want reforms, they just donāt want THESE reforms.

The helpful thing is that, given that he LOST THE GODDAMNED ELECTION BY THREE MILLION GODDAMNED VOTES, it is now perfectly clear what they mean whenever they say āthe American Peopleā want this or āthe American Peopleā have spoken.
Actually, it doesnāt even really require empathy. Its just basic math.
The basic problem with SSI and other entitlements in this country right now is that A) people live longer and B) the Baby Boomers are retiring. That combines to flip the model, so we less working age people supporting more retirement age people. This is exasperated by the reduction in the number of children people have, and having them later in life. America needs immigration, particularly younger immigrants, to pay into the system.
But it goes even beyond entitlement programs. You want the country to grow at a robust rate? Then you need people to be employed and to buy thingsā¦more people, always more people.
These are basic mathematical issues; I am not even bringing up the synergy that comes from being the worldās Melting Pot, and how that helps translate into cultural and economic dominance over rest of the world.
