We’ll see if they feel the same after he approves Trump’s plan to disband congress.<<\snark>
Sen. Thom Tillis of North Carolina said he was satisfied that Kavanaugh’s earlier skepticism of special counsel investigations — like Mueller’s probe — was rooted in his work on Kenneth Starr’s team investigating Bill Clinton, rather than the events of today. “I don’t see how the two can be intertwined,” Tillis said.
GOP Sen. James Lankford of Oklahoma said he did not broach the topic because he is already convinced Kavanaugh’s writings are not applicable to Mueller’s probe. “I didn’t take it that we shouldn’t do investigations. At all,” Lankford said.
“He impresses me as the sort of guy that would actually talk and get to know the people who clean his office.”
How very impressive that he might actually, you know, speak to a human being.
I don’t give two shits about his “story”. I care about whether he endorses dictatorial powers above the law for the Office of the President. But hey, maybe that’s just the patriotic American in me.
Is it really snark though?
Two key Republican senators, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine, remain among the holdouts. They plan to meet with the judge this month. But even those two independent-minded senators, who both support abortion rights, may be unwilling to break with their party and prevent Trump from filling a second seat on the Supreme Court.
This episode of “Things We Pretend Are True Because Our Editors’ Rigid Narrative Frames Demand It” is brought to you by AP Brand Ballwash and Story Conditioner.
So AP’s big new is that republican senators aren’t opposed to a republican president’s supreme court nominee? Shocked, shocked I tell you.
TPM - I sure hope you’re proud of running drek like this. Embarrassing.
“But even those two independent-minded senators, who both support abortion rights”
JUST. FUCKING. STOP. IT.
“But even those two senators, who put on kabuki theater of being independent but vote in lock-step with their party, and who both pretend to support abortion rights…”
FIFY
No kidding!
Fringe corporatist who’ll crawl over broken glass to flip Roe v. Wade and prevent Trump from having to obey the rule of law? HE’S THEIR GUY!
Russian toadies do NOT get to name people for lifetime appointments in our nation’s justice system. PERIOD!
Pass this around until everyone starts believing it.
The headline by itself (“Kavanuts” - seriously?) was cringeworthy. The nonsense about Murkowski and Collins being independent-minded made me want to scream.
Hmmm…
Maybe it’s just me …
I would think one-on-ones would best be done after the Senator spent the time
required to go through an extensive paper trail of decisions and opinions
available from this nominee —
jeeze …
Maybe then one could have a relevant set of questions to ask regarding a persons
ideology and how that would benefit the society moving forward —
But I digress …
I almost forgot that the GOP is busy…busy … busy … enacting legislation
and running the Country … Making America Great Again —
Oh well …
At the least … they know now if he raises his pinky / or not /
when he sips his coffee —
That’s a really going point, confirming that the GOP always intended their questioning of Kavanaugh to be superficial and limited.
He loves his family? That’s really nice. It would be downright cruel to put him on the Supreme Court, it would take up so much of his time.
I’ve trusted my balls to nothing less for years. It leaves them shiny and manageable.
When you have accepted the corrupt choice from a corrupt supreme court justice as part of a transaction to protect a corrupt, soi-disant president, of course you’re going to be leading the cheerleading section.
Just a beautiful day in neighborhood on the Hill. And we know the answer to would you be mine?
Silly fellow. Did you even read the label? It’s not for washing one’s own balls. It’s for washing the balls of Republicans acting in bad faith.
