Nope, too many of the kernels inside THE GRASSHOLE’S head have popped!
Grassley is just trying to show off by showing peeps that he is more significant than Chief Justice Roberts.
Rather than concentrating on performing his job, he continues to make people believe that he will not be scheduling for Obama’s SCOTUS nominee.
What a joke these cowardly sneaks have become…oh wait, a slap and tickle fight just broke out.
Better yet.
Just follow the Constitution, and do your job.
oh, more victim blaming from republicans. shocking.
Just because the man doesn’t have a law degree, you’re gonna tell me he doesn’t know more than those dumb ol’ Supreme Court justices?
Next you’re gonna tell me Donald Trump shouldn’t be his own foreign policy adviser or Ted Cruz doesn’t know more about woman’s private parts than a gynecologist – all because they didn’t get the proper skoolin’. Elitist!
I will tell you this much: Donald Trump would be WAYYYYYYYY better at separating conjoined twins than Ben Carson – even though he doesn’t have no fancy medical degree. And nowadays, even Ben will admit that!
Grassley was never the sharpest tool in the shed! I swear he’ll eat those words before the year is up. His fellow dumb-dumb senators are howling I’m sure that he said this and even challenged Roberts, nay the entire court, to a tag team match.
What a fool to put in words exactly how Republicans have politicized the court more than any other entity! They are fighting to keep the court firmly in the Right’s grasp but that’s not political?
And his words show he is scared of the Democrat’s efforts. Why else would he allude to Roberts not even commenting on how his blockade affects the Court? Him telling Roberts he has no freedom of speech is both rich and ironic!
I emailed one of my senators about this obstruction. Here was the automated response I got:
"Thank you for contacting me regarding the current vacancy on the United States Supreme Court. I appreciate you taking the time to contact me on this important issue.
As you know, we are in the midst of a presidential election and a vigorous debate within both political parties on the direction of the country. With the election less than eight months away, I believe the best thing for the country is to trust the American people to weigh in on who should make a lifetime appointment that could reshape the Supreme Court for generations.
It is common practice for the Senate to stop acting on lifetime appointments during the last year of a presidential term, and it’s been nearly 80 years since any president was permitted to immediately fill a vacancy that arose in a presidential election year. I have supported some of President Obama’s federal court nominees and opposed others, based on their qualifications. Whether the next president is a Republican or Democrat, I will judge any nominee on the merits, as I always have."
The balls on these guys to blatantly twist facts.
Edit: This was from Rob Portman.
There are some — He’s facing some tough times at home —
So, lessee… CJ Roberts makes a speech wherein he criticizes the politicization of Supreme Court nominations, and Sen Grassley dumps on him for it - while leading the most blatantly political obstruction of a nominee in thirty years. And then says it’s Robetts’ fault. Uh huh…
Wotta maroon!
Irony! Accuse Roberts of politicizing the court while politizing the court big time.
This do-nothing, know-nothing Senator is up for re-election. At 82 years old and apparently having lost his fucking mind a long time ago, he needs to be replaced. There are a few people running for his seat…but this Democratic woman seems to have a real shot at it and plenty of name-recognition in Iowa.
But Roberts voted to save the clearly unconstatootshunal Obummercare, contrary to the Constitution’s prohibition on communism, for purely partisan reasons!
I have sad news for The Honorable Senator Grassley: all judges are allowed to vote in general elections and are permitted to register with a political party. But Federal Judicial candidates are presented as nonpartisan, they are not selected by officials of the GOP or Democratic Parties. Even in Iowa’s State Judicial elections, the candidates are not identified on the ballot by party. And worst of all, both Democrats and Republicans are allowed to vote for them!
Yes, that’s exactly the problem. Grassley was the leader of opposition to the ACA, since his primary campaign funds come from insurance companies. He sees Roberts as political opposition. Someone needs to educate Grassley about the theory of “Checks and Balances.” The Judicial Branch is intended to restrain demagoguery by rogue legislators.
“Physician, heal thyself?” As long as we’re dusting off old saws, how about “There’s no fool like an old fool.”
Granny GrASSley THE poster boy for the “Party of Personal Responsibility.”
Isn’t Grassley past his “use by” date?
Grassley has become VERY sensitive these days. Roberts got it right about the handling of the confirmation process. The GOP is not only refusing to do its job an at least give Garland a hearing, they are also holding up a lot of nominations to the federal courts. The DC Circuit and several others have been operating at less than full strength for some time, and instead of confirming nominees to the bench, Republicans have been crying that Obama is trying to pack the courts. Pack the courts?? There are vacancies that are affecting the federal judiciary’s ability to hear cases and all the GOP can do is whine and obstruct.
I usually don’t agree with Roberts, but he’s been seeing the degradation of the courts for some time, and is probably frustrated that Republicans are willing to break the whole system rather than confirm too many Obama appointees. That’s not Roberts politicizing anything, but calling out the Senate for politicizing the process. Someone should say something, especially with McConnell moving from the people should have a say, to I’ll move if the Senate turns, to if Clinton wins I still won’t confirm. The Republicans have decided obstruction is their only option.
Grassley was scared of a primary, but based on his actions, he best fear the general election.
Here now, I won’t have that. Grassley has an ABD in political science, you know.
I can’t stand him and I think he’s a fool and a hack with an undeserved reputation for straight-talk that he exploits ruthlessly, but I do give him credit for recognizing that there are only a couple of dozen job openings for professional political scientists at any given time and a Ph.D in poli sci wasn’t going to make him a better farmer.
Hell, it’s how I ended up in law school.
