Discussion: GOP Sen. Tillis: US Is Throwing Rocks In 'Glass House' On Election Interference

Way to support your country there, Senator.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) argued that America had often meddled in other countries’ elections and warned against overreacting to interference in our own.

Is it safe to say that he’d be OK with Russia supporting a covert coup d’etat and putting a puppet in power as President?

I think the grave spin dead Republicans are generating has added to today’s brutal weather…

Tillis, who worked at IBM as a consultant prior to his career in Congress, said his colleagues should get “educated” on the nature of cyber threats and the right ways to fight them.

I think that’s what these hearings that are going on right now are about. And since Rump doesn’t seem to think the IC is worth sh*t, who exactly does he think should do the educating?

For years a load star amongst conservatives was distain for the Church Committee. They just hated what was exposed and thought it enabled our adversaries. Now look at them trashing the intelligence community.

Cheese-eating surrender-monkey Thom Tillis needs to put down Howard Zinn and stop cutting-n-running from Russia’s political interference in our election.

The best defense against this case of interference does not involve instigating cyberwar against Russia. It’s called impeachment.

“In fact, when Russia apparently was trying to influence our election, we had the Israelis accusing us of trying to influence their election,” he said

Just like every GOPer out there, he thinks that Israel is the 51st state and their actions are ours.

But, more importantly, he’s right. We should stop freaking out over the Russian interference – after all, they wouldn’t be a geopolitical foe if they didn’t – and focus on clearing out the right wing FBI agents who tried to overturn the government through investigations and leaks.

I blame Comey for creating the environment, but he’s just an incompetent, weak leader. The rot goes far down the top law enforcement agency and needs to be rooted out. It is a far greater threat to our security and future than some Russian hackers getting to our personal e-mail messages.

Does anyone remember the innocent days of, say, two years ago, when if anyone said something so breathtakingly hypocritical the person saying it would almost certainly be Ted Cruz? Trump has almost magically transformed every GOP person into a mini-he, capable of saying the most astonishingly untrue, bizarrely counter to reality things you could never have imagined.

According to “Republican Maladies: What the Masters of the Universe Suffer” (Cult of Jesus Publishing): “Suffering a Tillis attack involves the violent outgassing of brain farts through the mouth while the tongue tries to disguise the stench by making human sounds.” This poor SOB has it bad.

The only thing that matters to most of these guys anymore is greenbacks.

Actually caring about their nation (other than a small number of it’s citizens) is very low on their totem pole anymore.

Russia put their thumb on the scales for Trump for a reason. Putin runs his country like a mafia syndicate and he’s exporting corruption to eastern bloc countries in an effort to expand his sphere of influence while spreading anti-American sentiment. The Trump administration is shaping up to be one of the most corrupt in history which fits hand and glove with Putin’s MO.

It’s a mistake to just forget about it.

This is one dumb man. Why was he elected senator again? I think because his supporters didn’t realize how dumb he was.

Clapper kept emphasizing espionage is a passive act much different from the active measure Putin just implemented by giving us four years of President Trump. I don’t know about you but I’m pissed off about it.

What did he consult on?

No puppet! No puppet!

You’re the puppet!

(Remarkably similar to the oft-heard right-wing racist denial: No racist! No racist! You’re the racist!)

On this general subject, I’m not going have any high expectations over what the unclassified version of the Russian Hacking report has to say. My bet is there will be no revelations beyond what we already know and no evidence of any direct involvement with Trump or his campaign. The Russians favored Trump because HRC was a badass who would maintain sanctions.

So, Tommy, the US isn’t exceptional, after all? Try to sell that to the rednecks back home.
