Lee is responding to the very strong revulsion of tramp by Mormans. Many will stay home rather than vote for tramp. Polls show that with tramp heading the ticket, Utah will turn blue in November.

It’s pretty clear why: for the past 15 years, since Bush, the Republican party has been hijacked by conservatives, whose philosophy demands cutting taxes for the wealthy and paying for the loss of revenue by cutting social benefits. They don’t campaign on that premise, however, because it’s unpopular. Rather, they campaign on social issues such as abortion and gay rights, and now bathrooms. But when they get into office, they cut taxes on the wealthy and cut benefits; they are hawks who don’t want to pay for their ambitions with new revenue.
While he’s a carnival barker, up until now Trump has eschewed that dichotomy. Instead, he speaks of issues that matter to his constituency: immigration, racism, America First. This is a direct threat to the Republican party, because it exposes their hypocrisy and will tend to crowd out the right wing nut jobs.
It’s really interesting to watch, if you’re not a Republican.
Except Mrs. Clinton isn’t likely to tank the economy like a failed casino, or lead the country into a nuclear showdown with “them Muslims”.

I’ll take this. Not voting for Trump is half a vote for Hillary, despite Lee’s attempt to be scared neutral.
I want as big a victory as possible this November, and conservative true believers have a role to play in securing that.

Senator Lee, your obstructionist approach to governance as part of an overreaching GOP political strategy; your demonizing a sitting President of the United States for no other reason than his race; and your trying to shove a religious fanatic down the throats of Americans is why Trump is the candidate from your party. You helped create this monster with your political actions and now you better own it, or your state will see you for what you are: a political sycophant of the GOP, not someone who should be in a position of power or authority in the Senate.
