A growing safety in numbers for congressional GOP?
In the past several days comments at town halls have included some criticism (not harsh, but firm) from a handful of different people. Tax Returns, Trips to Mara Lago, Problems with the attempted Repeal/Replace. It’s almost like the climate right after the Access Hollywood Tape - when numerous GOPers created distance. Which quickly dissipated - due the well known fear of the twitter vengeance of Trump.
Perhaps the power of the tweet is beginning to be viewed differently in face of the power of the Resistance at home?
Poor Pennywise the President - losing some of the power of his most valuable weapon for domestic unity/power among the GOP.

The Goopers are beginning to sense that the tide is turning on Drumpfie. It’s a trickle now (after, what, only three months??!), but how much faster will the slide down be in three months, or 12 months, or 18 months?

So what will he do if the GOP finally (due to Trump’s toilet poll numbers) force him to release the taxes? Resign or do it?
The R’s in Congress have already figured out Trump’s pretty powerless against them. The smart ones choose a relatively benign topic on which to disagree, knowing it won’t change a thing the president does but will sound good and result in favorable media attention—like here.
Rather than listening to what they say, watch what they do.
These GOP hacks are trying to give the illusion they are moderates, knowing full well they don’t have the power to affect this issue. It’s a fraud. On environmental and health care destruction they are with Trump all the way.
I’m not sure it matters if he releases his returns or not, since I cannot imagine any information his returns might contain that would actually motivate Congressional Republicans to do anything.
After the business with throwing the hats, I am in the camp which believes Trump has dementia. Tax returns are just the beginning.
When is the last time Trump kept a promise? Lankford is slowly backing away from the Titanic, but I hope he and his fellow Republicans go down with the ship.
Not that Trump’s base will care (they seem giddy about the grifting), but it’s going to be awfully hard for Trump to argue for tax reform without letting the public know about how his new plan will affect his own pile.
