“Let’s suppose your CEO came to you—not you, but somebody who could do it in your company. Maybe you could. And said, ‘I want to know everything we can find out about Sen. Graham. I want to know the movies he likes, I want to know the bars he goes to. I want to know who his friends are. I want to know what schools he goes—went to.’ You could do that, couldn’t you?”

Sounds like a dating app, to me.

In other words, “yeah, we keep track of the data of 2 billion Facebook users and slice and dice that data to help advertisers target and manipulate our users – no problem – but c’mon now, we can’t be expected to keep track of the advertisers…imagine the record-keeping that would require.”

Great question!

The answer is, “Yes.” And before you ask, the next answer is, “No”.

You cannot know who is using it to influence you, Senator. That’s the law.

Gee, for a minute there I thought he was talking about Super-PACs. Of course we won’t go there, cause nobody wants to kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

What a bunch of BS. If I could ask the questions:

  • So, what with your deep pockets and all, don’t you FANG types ever worry about the prospect of the mother of all class-action lawsuits?
  • Following up, how do you propose to assess the damages that should be awarded to 300 million people for the wanton injuries caused by your irresponsible actions and gross negligence?
  • Give me one good reason why we shouldn’t just regulate your ass right back to the Stone Age?
