Yet Trump claims he wowed them with his depth of knowledge

So Trump will veto any Republican bills because the goals of those bills are to eliminate mandates, but not to cover preexisting conditions and lower premiums. Right?

You know those are competing goals impossible to reach.

Well, you have to admit, they didn’t even try the “clueless is okay by us” strategy with Dubya.

he’s sure come a long way from that 10 minutes where he got choked up by a viral kimmel video.

This isn’t “intricacies”. Trump betrays a gross, and profound ignorance of basic shit regarding the topic.

And your trying to defend him and it are pathetic you piece of shit.

“Trump said reading long documents is a waste of time because he absorbs the gist of an issue very quickly.” I’m sure other, similar statements could be found - like how he knows more than the generals and how he is a smart guy. But nobody knew health care was complicated.

Oh, it’s actually easy for him. One of the advantages of the pre-existing condition commonly referred to as “having no heart.”

It’s not important for a mechanic to know the intricacies of how an engine works in order to fix your car. What matters is the principle that when you turn the key the car doesn’t start!

cover preexisting conditions, eliminate mandates and lower premiums,

Lower premiums and covering pre-existing conditions requires mandated coverage of everyone.

That this idiot thinks otherwise is proof he himself (to say nothing of Trump) doesn’t understand even the basic principles of the issue. Let alone anything intricate.

Trump isn’t smart enough to know how to pour piss out of a boot with the directions on the heel.

Man, you would think that this would have to put a bit of steel in the moderate R spines (okay, tin, they’re starting from nothing, so anything would be an improvement). What thinking person would want to walk the plank on a bill they know is hideous for a man who clearly has no idea what he’s asking them to vote for?

Probably assuming too much.

“In your conversations with him, do you think the President understands the political, the policy intricacies of this bill?”
“I don’t think it’s important for him to understand the policy intricacies of this bill,”

A very charitable interpretation is that’s a twisted, convoluted, mealy-mouthed way to say “No he doesn’t understand shit.”

the more apt analogy using a car engine would be: it’s not important for a 15 year old check out clerk at the gardening store to know the intricacies of how an engine works in order to fix your car. what matters is WHY THE FUCK DO YOU HAVE A TEENAGE CHECKOUT CLERK AT A GARDENING STORE WORKING ON YOUR CAR.

Trump: “1+1 =3. It’s called quantum probability. Amazing. Napoleon didn’t know it, which is why he got delayed for lunch and his troops died in very cold Russia in the very, very bitter winter. By the way, they say that Justin Trudeau, the Doonesbury guy’s kid, knows a little tiny bit of quantum stuff. I could teach him a lot, no question.”

GOP Senator: “Trump has a very broad range of knowledge. His big picture view is more helpful than knowing a lot of detailed facts which anybody could look up”.

It is important if you want to pass it. Without POTUS selling it to the public and congress, you get the fiasco we see before us.

“I don’t think it’s important for him to understand the policy…” – well you got your wish!

Good Lord. What a pitiful bunch of assholes.

As a matter of fact the less he knows, the better pleased they are. As long as he can write his name.

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal: “We’ve got to stop being the stupid party. It’s time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults.”

Well, Governor, don’t think they took your advice.

Apparently, for the GOP it’s not important for senators to know the intricacies of the repeal bill, since they still haven’t been told what they’ll being voting on next week.
