Discussion: GOP Sen. Heller Has 'Serious Concerns' About Senate Bill's Cuts To Medicaid

i feel like ā€œserious concernsā€ is like ā€œsternly worded letter.ā€

he’ll do what he said he’ll do (or not), and magically come to the conclusion that it’s good for nevadans, and that he can grudgingly support it.

wash, rinse, repeat, until we get to 50.

Sounds like Kabuki theater to me. Heller is trying to take the heat off of himself until he votes for the Trump/McConnell/Ryan DO NOT CARE Bill. I hope his constituents will not be fooled by his play acting.

Sen. Dean Heller (R-NV) said Thursday that he has yet to make a decision on his support for the Senate’s bill to repeal Obamacare, but he said in a statement that he has ā€œserious concernsā€ about how the legislation will impact those on Medicaid.

Isn’t Heller’s considered one of the most endangered Senate seats in 2018? And didn’t Clinton carry Nevada?

…but will still vote to pass the bill.

Like Josh says, R moderates always cave.

Yes, it’s all been scripted by Mitch. He’s already counted noses.

Another WH beer bash on June 29.

Oh yes, Clinton DID carry NV.

AND, - as the icing on the cake, Heller now has a real Dem challenger. Jacky Rosen, who just got elected to the House, is running against Heller. And she has the backing of Reid.

Concerns publicly stated, his conscience is now clear and he will proceed to vote for the bill. As Josh Marshall has repeatedly pointed out, the moderates always cave.

I don’t think we’d have seen a bill if he didn’t have the votes to bring it home.

On the plus side, the Senators who were ostensibly writing this bill get to see it now, too!

As I have consistently stated, if the bill is good for Nevada, I’ll vote for it and if it’s not – I won’t.

I hope Nevadan’s hold you to that Mr. Heller, because so far there is nothing in the House bill or the proposed Senate bill that is good for anyone except Sheldon Adelson.

ā€˜Serious concerns’ means a yes vote, ā€œAs long as you can keep those old farts out of my town halls till they die!ā€

And then he heard that Cornyn has 2,000,000 losing insurance & is laughing about it.
Hmmm. Makes my 200,000 look kinda small!

Yeah, he is over a barrel with this. Sue Collins probably won’t vote for it (our state is so old and poor, and SMALL – she wouldn’t be able to show her face here anymore). Murkowski won’t vote for it because it’s even worse for Alaska and she is totally badass – won as a WRITE-IN candidate when a teabagger won her primary some years back, so she knows her seat is safe from any leadership threats. That’s it – Heller and Flake have to vote for it, and if they do, that’s it for their Senate seats in 2018.

You familiar with Randy Bryce? He’s running against Paul Ryan. I really wish we could get more people like him to run. He may not succeed at first, but he’s the kind of candidate Democrats need in red districts. His ad:

John McCain just weighed in…

I dunno why do they even bother… we all know which way he is going to vote when it the call comes.

Because most of those are above Level II in the Fitzpatrick scale, deserve suffering for past sins.

And we can believe a politician’s promise because??
