OK, you win. I’ll keep my ‘regard’ quiet from now on.
“Oh, I mean, I talk to the President about almost everything,” Corker said. “We spend a lot of time together. We play golf.
Blackburn may be too nuts to get statewide support as opposed to her just her district, especially if the Dems do have a strong candidate.
But, but, but, it, it, it’s Tennessee…
Another stalwart GOPer who suddenly finds “getting up with fleas” isn’t quite as tolerable as they thought. I hope Corker decides to retire, at least the race will be a lively one!
If I were a Tennesseean and Corker chooses to step down, I would hope someone besides Harold Ford, Jr. runs on the D side. After listening to him for too long on MSNBC, I have no doubt that the only ideas he would bring to Washington would be stale ones. I suppose he would be OK if, assuming he got elected, he would just shut up and do what Schumer told him to do. The only way I would be enthusiastic about Ford would be if Blackburn were to run for the seat. If elected, she would be a major embarrassment to both Tennessee and the Senate.
Harold Ford, Jr. has always reminded me of Joe Lieberman in that he has and will always represent the Harold Ford, Jr. Party over anything else. A bit of a lightweight to boot. He’s CNN’s idea of a Great Democrat, and that’s all I need to know!
I’m actually interested in how the private money will shake out in 2018. Usually you can count on the Kochs and company to dump cash into a power grab in the off year, when they know no one is looking. But 2018 is looking likely to be the highest turn-out mid-term election is living memory.
I wonder if these “businessmen” will sit this one out and save their cash for when the deck isn’t stacked so highly against them, rather than pissing away a few hundred million on losing propositions.
Or will they double down, knowing their cash will be the only thing holding back a Democratic landslide?
Harold doesn’t live here anymore, and couldn’t get elected dogcatcher.
Word has been Peyton Manning is considering a run.
Because republican celebrities have shown to be competent office holders?
AHnold, Raygun, and Trump… yeah, not great.
Sonny Bono was ok, but those were different times.
Be vigilant… Since his Senate loss he has held a series of political welfare jobs, and there is a chance that he believes his own BS to the extent that he will decide to return to his native soil to run as a favorite son. I hope you are right.
Since the Senate loss, Harold has been teaching at several universities, including Columbia and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he currently teaches.
No political welfare. I know Harold, though I haven’t seen him much since the campaign, and he’s not interested in running for office again.
