Discussion: GOP Rep's Children: Our Dad Is Cheap

Discussion for article #222229

Curious: Did you buy the matching cups yourself? Because if he was that cheap you’d all be drinking out of chipped mason jars from the thrift store.

Alms for the ignorant. Sorry holding the cups gave the whole ad away.

The question is … what flavor of kool-aid are those cups holding?

Gas costs the same whether you burn it on empty or full. Given that we know who this clown thinks he is talking to.

Look at that pic. The perfect preppy family…living on 174,000 dollars a year and another 50,000 or so in benefits. I think folks fail to realize that getting a gig in Congress is one of the highest paying jobs out there…and like it or not…government created it.

“He’ll drive five miles on empty, just to save two cents a gallon,” Kingston’s son Jack said.

Let’s see, 5 miles at 20 mpg and $4/gal, cost is $1.00

$.02/gal saved times 20 gal fillup, savings is $0.40

Conclusion: he’s a Republican budget expert.

If their dad is really that cheap, it’s gotta be rainwater from a dich.

Let’s hear it for use of a candidate’s children to make political points, a la Ben Sasse yesterday. So when there is a rebuttal, will the candidate hide behind the “you’re attacking my kids - how dare you” defense. It’s the candidate’s risk. Good luck with that.

Sorry, I don’t click to watch Republican political ads. I just don’t have the 30 seconds I want to waste.

So, he’s cheap unless someone else is footing the bill.

Yeah, sounds like a Republicken, like a conservative!

Pardon me while I go vomit.

If it really is an older model station wagon, mpg will be closer to 10 (12 highway). Which tells me he isn’t just cheap, he isn’t bright. He would do better with a smaller, more fuel efficient car or even a bike. Unless he’s still driving these kids around with him everywhere he goes.
Probably “thinkers” aren’t Jack’s target audience.

I just want to comment that whenever there is supposed to be a video or something like that I just get a blank space with nothing. Why is that?

Pete Ricketts in Nebraska is also using his children in his ads. The man is extremely wealthy and made his bones doing what Romney did, buying up companies, firing the workers, and filling his pockets. Ricketts is running for governor.

I’m glad he respects the value of a dollar — because he sure doesn’t respect our intelligence.

I dunno a/b youse-all, but I’m getting so sick of these cheesy, look-Ma-I’m-on-TV, sophomoric ads — especially when there are so many serious issues at play.

Presumably it’s not just 5 miles but 10 since he’s gotta drive back. So spending $2.00 to save $0.40.

He’s thrifty with his money, not your’s!

So, “Vote for me, I’m a miser” is his campaign slogan?

Of course he will. They always hide behind their kids.
