The GOP’s favorite ploy because it is largely out of sight of the public eye…gutting investigatory budgets:
The party lost a battle when Warren’s Consumer Protection Bureau managed to win budget sourcing independent of the regular budget to shield it from just this kind of interference. And the GOP has been trying to change that vigorously ever since. They have done it with the SEC and the IRS, and here they are, trying to gut Mueller.
It is always funny how the definition of a fishing expedition changes over time. Clinton faced a true fishing expedition in the 90’s. The probe changed from one matter (that was already investigated) into Lewinski. The GOP did not complain then. They were all for it.
From reports it sounds like at worse Muller is looking into ties with Russia. Which are relevant. And sticking a time line on it is pointless. Investigations take what time they do. The whole GOP and conservative idea that nothing has been found so far (we do not know that) means there is nothing to find is not always true. Clinton was under investigation most of his presidency for much less serious stuff.
Another Republican fascist who failed to talk to his lawyer.
It’s called obstruction of justice…Mueller’s investigation is protected by the Constitution and these two bit Republican fascists need to realize they aren’t in Moscow but are in Washington DC.
Russia is by far our #1 enemy and the world’s #1 terrorist state. And these Republican fascists want to cut the Russia investigation and build an obsolete wall along our southern border. We know the Iron Curtain, the Great Wall of China, and the Netanyahu wall in Israel are all obsolete and don’t do a damnd thing. We also know that Trump is mentally insane and incompetent buffoon…and they want to cut the Mueller funding.
America is in deep trouble - because of the Republican fascists!
Wait until Janet Yellen’s term as Federal Reserve chair is up next year. Some people are gunning for Trump to appoint a real whacko who would hamstring the Fed and place it under further Congressional micromanagement.
Yes, because law enforcement, when investigating certain criminal behavior, always ignore other crimes they learn about in the process of the investigation,
DeSantis’ fear, certainly justified, is that Mueller is on a “fishing expedition.” But unlike Ken Starr, who spent over three years chasing down a murder case only to end up doing catch-and-release on a small creek of salacious sexy time, Captain Mueller is out on the high seas daily trawling the main waters, catching his limit of Trumpian crimes day after day. Simply the challenge of cataloging money-laundering transactions or accomplice to money-laundering events seems to require dozens of forensic accountants and one large real estate deal could take months to unravel. Starr was a kid with a single casting rod. Mueller is a commercial operator who needs one of those floating fish-processing factories with hundreds on workers onboard just to deal with his haul.
The Governor’s seat? We have 3 candidates currently running, Gwen Graham, Andrew Gilliam, and Chris King.
For AG, we have one candidate that has declared, Ryan Torrens, but its still early and others have been making noise in that direction (Same is true on the GOP side, where actually people have been bailing out to run for Governor, in part because the GOP Rep in my district has been hinting pretty strongly at vacating his House seat to run for AG. He is a putz, but has a boatload of money and Daddy’s name recognition in state).
There are two people in the Democratic primary for his seat, Robert Coffman and Nancy Soderberg. I don’t know enough about either candidate to give you much more than their names. Despite the leaning that @randyabraham pointed out, republicans have been winning that district by double digit margins for a long time. Heavily white. Its basically St. Augustine south down through Daytona Beach to New Smyrna Beach.
She’s just not a slobbering far-left ideologue who can satisfy the other far-left ideologues.
She also keeps getting re-elected, so her constituents must see something in her that you don’t.
Democrats have always represented a broad range of political thought ranging from more centrist to more leftist—and Democrats should always represent that broad range of thought.
Otherwise, they’d just be a lefty version of the Freedom Caucus. And nobody needs that.
Using the term “real Democrat” is a classic logical fallacy (the No True Scotsman variety) and leads inexorably to defeat and disillusionment.
All legislative term limits do is make legislators less competent and more extreme as institutional memory, job experience and norms are washed out. So basically, it just makes what we’ve got now worse.
