Discussion: GOP Rep Who Settled Misconduct Claim Says Younger Aide Was 'A Soul Mate'

So let me get this straight, Meehan says he never harassed his aide - he merely told her they were “soulmates” and “lash(ed) out” when he found out she had a boyfriend because he cared about her a lot.

Um… uh… wow.

What’s next “I wasn’t trying to hurt Reagan, I was just trying to show Ms. Foster how much I cared about her and was upset!”…?

What is it with Republicans and the “ick” factor?

Think Tony Perkins is going to give this guy a “mulligan” like he did Hair Furor?

That ranks up there with Gingrich having to cheat on his wife because he was such a patriot that it took up too much of his time for him to make his marriage work.

At least one of those boys is a closet case.

Meehan claimed that he lashed out against the aide when she told him she was in a relationship because he was stressed about Republican efforts to repeal Obamacare.

I knew it – another thing that is all Obama’s fault. When will the awful legacy of our previous president stop making these GOP bumfuzzles do bad things?

Nothing like Franken because it involves abusing a junior staff member.

I missed this. No, not the same. This was a continued attempt to have a relationship and then playing the part of a jealous lover when he found out she had a boyfriend.

Creepy.

It’s perfectly understandable that someone might fall in love with someone who isn’t in love with them. It’s not understandable in the least when they write letters about it to their employees or coworkers and say they’re “soul mates.” It’s not about hierarchy. That belongs in Creepertown every time.

And when you justify lashing out at people because “you go hardest on the ones that you care the most about”…you’ve got personality problems that you need to deal with on your own. It’s scary how much abusive behavior used to be rationalized as normal.

Paul Ryan needs to hire you to introduce new male Representatives to this secret. They will call you the “wife whisperer.” After enough training, you might get them to understand why that is another thing they shouldn’t say.

Does he really not notice that calling it “Team Meehan” implies that Meehan is in charge? Yeah, no hierarchy there, chief. So many kinds of stupid.

Wow. Even his soul is coming adultery.

Note to other “old guys.” Women half your age are NEVER your soul mates, they do not secretly long for you, they do not want to be touched by you, dated by you, or drooled over by you. You are too old. Get over it.

It’s somehow always Obama’s fault with these Republicans, isn’t it? Stress of a black President made him want to commit adultery.

I don’t know which is worse: him cynically thinking that this kind of utter horsepuckey explanation will convince anyone, or him being so bllindly self-involved that he believes it himself.
