All it would take would be a significant amount of Republican voters to show up and move to the Center.
Politicians respond to the people they perceive as voters. Spector, Crist and others couldn’t hang with the Bagger crowd and, as with most trends, people/sheeple pile on, resulting in people Republican leaderships in the 1970s would have rejected as candidates.
Interesting that Charlie Dent is in a swing state.

Is Cruz, himself, anything but self-serving. His wife and kids must have to bow down before him after he gives his breakfast table speech about how wonderful he is, before he leaves the house.

I’ll add that if Senator Cruz believes that disagreeing with the policies of the current Israeli government makes you an antisemite, I’m sure he’ll agree that his disagreements with President Obama make him a racist.

But you apply to a US citizen the Jose Padilla treatment. Which consist on accuse him of terrorism keep it incommunicado and torture him for years until the guy goes mad, extract some phony confessions and then lock him up forever. (And then a few years later add a few more years).
It was an absolute outrage what they did to Padilla,but I am willing to forgive them if they do that just one more time to Ted .Cruz
